This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun (with commentary!), meaning this run was made using tools such as frame advance and savestates. This is not meant to be a competitive time nor should it be compared to speedruns done by humans in real time; it is strictly to show what can be done in this game if humans were literally perfect. Enjoy!

52:25 "But who would I be if I didn't flex on the final boss?" I was expecting a rare transformation of stone, but literally flexing on Marx kinda was the only option.
  • @erikm8373
"It's very important that I hide Meta Knights true identity so no one gets spoiled" truly a man of honor
  • @ScootsLounge
I honestly wish more TAS's had commentated versions. As much as I love the chaos of Tool-assisted Speedruns, they often get really boring to me and I end up either falling asleep or clicking off. With commentary Speedruns, it gives me more to focus on and helps me watch the whole thing through.
  • My first thoughts upon seeing that there was a commentated version was "this is where the fun really begins". I've always enjoyed listening to people actually explaining the crazy tricks used in tases to bring the time down as much as possible(even if I can't understand them a lot of the time)
  • @DillonMeyer
The puff backwards thing makes it look like he's shooting out air so he gains speed from the propulsion, which is a fun little aesthetic thing.
  • @tuckergregory
As a young kid who wasn't particularly talented with legit fighting, cheesing things with Stone and patience was the strat, and I'm so glad Stone not only got a prominent role in this TAS, but also got to defeat the final few bosses. Truly re marx able.
  • @pennyjim5671
As much as I love commentated TAS's, I love your sense of humor. "I refuse to explain this craziness" and "We haven't gone over ninja's above average damage, and we never will" are fantastic lines
  • @CaptainWobbs
I always knew Stone was a super powerful and underrated ability, and it definitely has nothing to do with the invincibility involved and my own cowardice.
  • it's cool how many abilities you end up having to use instead of just like, spamming wings the whole time. it's a testament to how good the game is
  • @Silverstar114
1:17:45, I totally agree. Love the small time saves because it feels like they have to be thought up and discovered in really creative ways, so it's fun to see tiny mechanics like that implemented to save frames!
  • The amount of times ive yelled “OHOHOHOOOO” out of pure shock or amazement is enough to probably shake a mountain Ive played super star ultra for so long and all of this has been the most satisfying thing i’ve ever watched
  • What I love in TAS is impossibly fast inputs, movements that dance on danger but never fail, and super optimized bosses. This has all of that and more. Also, commentary, so much better, actually explaining to me the strats.
  • @eleviathan7488
I always thought of stone as a slow, defensive ability, (I used it to cheese the arenas) but it not only being used in the tas but as a main ability is something I didn't expect to see. Also you do get a little medal if you complete helper to hero with all the characters, but I understand why it's not in the speedrun.
  • @AphidKirby
Not only was every second of this fascinating and extremely engaging, you're really funny too, Hiding Meta Knight's face, teasing getting abilities and dying... There's so much fun things you can do with TASes like this, truly marvelous!
  • @NekuZX
Commentated speedruns are a niche that otherwise only AGDQ really provide most of the time. I really appreciate commentators. Makes even the unoptimal or long speedruns so much more fun to watch.
  • So, today I learned that Mach Tornado can one shot the reactor.
  • @TheRoomy
Dude, you're good at this. There's a misconception with things like this that every second of "dead air" needs to be filled with talking. After a while it all just becomes information white noise and no longer serves its purpose. You know what to say, and when to say it.
  • @maxleefer7765
Honestly one of the best TASs out there. Commentary, absurd movement, weird tech, the works. What really sets it apart is the playabout in autoscrollers/cutscenes though. Most TAS's don't do much, but the little pointless challenges, the absurdly hyperactive movement, and the little touches like stabbing the eye on the frame it explodes, or hitting the background whale really made every second of this run super entertaining :D
