Bournemouth was the most depressing city I’ve ever lived in. No cap, I moved there for a year and came back with depression 🤣🤣🤣 I think you might of ranked Sheffield too low, since the new building developments it’s looking good, and they have good public transport and the people are friendly. They also host this big film festival. So there is a lot of cultural activities happening and it has good transport links to other major cities. I think it’s a good place to live if you are a young adult who works and travels. I don’t know about night life there though. But it’s generally a good place, especially if you are a woman it feels very safe.
  • @garyrigby21
my Top 5 - 1 Liverpool. 2 Glasgow. 3 London. 4 Leeds. 5 Newcastle..and yes I've visited them all and ranking them on Nightlife and Food i'm a single guy with a disposable income
  • I actually forgot - I have visited Gloucester! I would personally rank Gloucester between City 22 and City 21
  • @paulharvey9149
You obviously have a preference for larger cities with good night-life, loads going on and maybe also on the warmer side - all of which is fine, and I do know what you mean about some of the smaller ones that have limited choices, especially after all the shops close down! I'm delighted to see your inclusion of St Andrews, Stirling and Dundee, though I suspect I'd have placed the latter a bit higher on the list, because while it does have some very rough and impoverished suburbs with poor standards of housing and other social problems - show me a city that doesn't... Again, Stirling is the smallest of Scotland's eight cities, and while it does feel a little bit on the suburban side after dark, it really does enjoy a beautiful setting and is also pretty upmarket, for the most part. I might also have placed Edinburgh and Bristol the other way around: I have lived in both and, while I imagine Bristol probably does have the edge on variety of things to do that appeal to younger people, I do feel much safer in Edinburgh, which the crime statistics also support. I'm also not especially impressed by either Bournemouth, Southampton (where I have also lived) or Brighton, though I do quite like Portsmouth, as it is much less pretentious and its people are less self-promoting, on the whole. Likewise, Oxford, Cambridge and Bath - and for the same reasons really. I don't dislike London, but it's not very disabled-friendly - on transport especially; and it is far, far too polluted and overcrowded - it should not be possible to wipe the sweat off your brow and discover the wiped piece of skin is a different colour from the rest, on the train home...! As for where's missing, I suspect I may have included Durham, Hull, Aberdeen, Inverness and perhaps Aberystwyth, as seaside towns are also permitted. Indeed, from a nightlife point of view, I even half-expected to see Blackpool, on your list!
  • @gailstevens6831
I'm intrigued, have you visited Belfast? It's a lovely city, beautiful architecture, very green, water views, fascinating history and very friendly people.
  • @ethanhart9439
Ey nice video. Ngl it made me laugh when you went from the fairly nice photos of birmingham to those miserable photos of southampton.
  • This has hurt me as a brummie 😢but intrigued to visit Bristol and Edinburgh now! Cheers
  • @craigwilson3711
Bizarre placement of Stirling and I don't even live there. It's immaculately clean and is regularly packed with tourists visiting the castle and Wallace monument. The suburbs are also lovely. Lots of nice houses too . Perhaps you visited on a grim winters day or something.
  • A very interesting video After many many years without a proper holiday, for my wife’s 60th birthday, we had a short 4-day break to London late in 2022, travelling down by train from Newcastle. We had a brilliant time, so have had several more short city breaks since. These have included Edinburgh (twice), Glasgow, London again, Manchester & Liverpool, Leeds & York, with three more repeat trips already booked for 2024. Initially we visited single cities, but more recently we have been combining two cities in one trip which can work out quite well (2 x 2-days) I am now trying to think of somewhere new to visit, for late in the year, or even early 2025. The earlier you can book, the better deals can be had .. and it gives us something to look forward to. I’ve been thinking about Inverness, Aberdeen, Cardiff, Nottingham, Sheffield. Derby, Chester Although my wife likes the shops, we both enjoy seeing new places of interest, such as museums, cathedrals etc. Regards from Whitley Bay
  • @MartinMilnerUK
It would not be on your list but is a nice place to visit: The city of DERBY (next to Nottingham) in the East Midlands. It has a smallish city centre but a really nice location situated as it is on the River Derwent, which flows through the centre. It has a lot of history including being the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie was turned around during his invasion of England and the place of the first factory during the Industrial Revolution (The Derby Silk Mill), now the Museum of Making. It is a small industrial city but is also known for its many parks, having the molst of them per size in the country. It is also the first place in the Derwent Valley which in a part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE CENTRE - THE DERWENT VALLEY MILLS and has a nice museum (for its size), including an art gallery showcasing the paintings of respected RA member Joseph Wright (of Derby). The Parks are the best for me though: Markeaton Park, Darley Abbey Park, Allestree Park and Elvaston Castle untry Park (the first country park in the country) among others. There is also the stately home of Kedleston Hall. And perhaps best of all the city is within easy reach of the PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK and the DERBYSHIRE DALES where you will find treasures such as CHATSWORTH HOUSE, HARDWICK HALL (home of the 2nd richest woman in the country at the time) and HADDON HALL (a mediaeval manor).
  • @Catboy553
I'll take that 29th spot he is right about the ruth part
  • @mindcache5650
I emigrated the misery of the UK in 1997. On considering returning, I narrowed it down to a handful of Cities that would even be on my radar: Bath, Cambridge, York, Durham, Brighton . That’s it. Needless to say, I won’t be hurrying back. The rest are crap. Edinburgh possible but too cold in August and, well, Scot’s.
  • @albin2232
These towns and cities are due to be amalgamated on the moors north of Manchester as the Greater Proletarian Reservation. Betting shops, charity shops, and branches of Poundstretcher are already under construction. Strong cider will be provided to homes on tap. Apply now, places will be limited.
  • @oof3397
    I'll take 29th as a compliment lmao.
