I think Metroid Prime 2's game over screen was the scariest. Lime you actually hear Samus' heart monitor go into overdrive before flatlining and it all goes static.

Every metroid Game: armor gets destroyed Metroid prime: you die, like, that's it Metroid I & II: PROCEEDS TO FUCKING DESINTEGRATE.
  • @The73MPL4R
The Prime series loves to hammer home the fact that you are, in fact, dead. No sugarcoating.
  • I remember being scared as a kid of the game overs in metroid prime 1, 2, and 3. The scream gives me chills, it actually feels like your character straight up died.
  • I must have seen the two death animations in Dread over 100 times. That game was BRUTALLY difficult

5:44 “Power suit energy is depleted” What an understatement. She exploded!
  • I still find Prime 2 the most upsetting. Seeing an xray of her heart stopping. The colour palette in Prime 2 really adds to it. But I will say Prime 3's ominous blood death screen is more creepy.

2D Metroid games: dramatic half naked pose Prime games: Life support systems flatlining... We watch her heart stopping to beat... Blood everywhere...
  • @trainerlsw
Damn, The Metroid Prime death screens are brutal.
  • Some of those animations were straight up BRUTAL, specifically the morph ball ones. Not only do you die, but YOU LITERALLY EXPLODE INTO A MILLION PIECES

Metroid Dread has my favorite death sequence. Like others have pointed out, the lights and effects really add to it, but I think the reason it’s so successful is actually Samus’s pose, particularly her arms. In other death animations, her arms sort of angle to the back, which in my opinion looks a little awkward. In Dread, her arms shoot more outwards, which really sells the feeling of force.
  • The Most brutal death in the Metroid series was the GAME_OVER screen in Prime 3. You could see the blood going everywhere from Samus’ death.

I love Metroid Prime 3 the most, and the Phazon Corruption overload is really cool in my opinion

Are we all just gonna ignore how in Dread that robot thing just straight up thrusts a blade through Samus' throat?
  • Whoever came up with the idea of Samus's suit being shatter deserves a raise.
  • I was killed during a failed counter with Raven Beak in Dread. She just gets anticlimactically knocked on the ground and I got the game over screen!

Nes:Wow, even in zero suit, she just explode into pieces, that's kinda shocking The return of Samus: This one is kinda crazy how she just desintegrates into thin air, for some reason it feels sadder than usual Super Metroid: It's just me... or do they bounce? Prime: Imagine if someone really tought their TV turned off during a critical moment in the game Prime morphball: never knew about this one, it's a really cool detail Fusion:Samus states in the intro of the game that due to the X they could not remove the suit from her alive, this make this one the best one as a game-over screen IMO Zero mission:I just noticed her hair tie also desintegrates Prime 2: Another really good one, I love the way it just abruptly cuts to "Continue from last save?" Pinball: . . . Poetic Prime hunters: "Let's do like Primes'es game-over screen but w/o the cool parts" Prime hunters morphball: That's the default explotion effect Prime 3: Metroid: The only Nintendo franchise allowed to have corpses and blood Corruption: This one is also great, the cool animation and a simple but effective game over Other M: Can't unheard the "Snake? SNAAAAAAAKE!!!" Federation forces: I forgot this existed Samus returns: Now we'll never know what Metroid 2 death animation was DREAD: This one is the best visually, all the flashing lights and effects do a great job making it really impactful

Metroid Deaths are SCARY. Samus's actor nailed the screaming in the 3D games. It's actually the 2D (or 2.5D) games that I have problems with, because it just feels weird seeing her Zero Suit every time she dies.
