'Queen Jokes with Canadian Officer About His Medals'

The Queen jokes with a Canadian officer with 27 years service, saying "it looks like that" as she admires his array of medals. She meets representatives from the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery at Windsor Castle, a contingent of which assumed the Queen's Guard earlier in the week. Report by Tom Edwards.

No one can say she doesnt know or understand her job. Still interested in others, attentive and commanding quiet respect

The way she was able to make small talk with everyone she met and made every person in her presence feel special and seen is a gift no one else has. She was always so engaged with everyone she spoke to, she never looked bored or like she wanted to be anywhere else than in front of the person she was with. And she did it nearly everyday of her life for 70 years.
  • She was so tiny but the respect she was given was deserved and huge. We will miss her very much.

I like how she gives whoever shes talking to her undivided attention and does so for everyone equally. Not many people in general do that.

I met her Majesty forty-six years ago when my unit, detailed to be her American honor guard during a state visit to the US at our Bicentennial. She was nothing like I expected! Conversing with us few, whom she spontaneously approached alone during a quiet moment without ceremony, she was easy, always interesting, and pleasant in both conversation & company, setting us at ease. She could do this with the high or low born without prejudice. In short, she taught me what a truly genteel person may be, leaving me with a lesson I've taken to heart and passed onto my own children.

She’s so comfortable and puts everyone at ease instantly. Never an awkward moment or silence. The epitome of gracious
  • At 0:51 She seemed a little awkward and perhaps genuinely embarrassed at not remembering her first meeting with that soldier. She must meet hundreds of people every year. It would be impossible for her to remember each one, yet it did seem to bother her that she could not recall him. This tells me all I need to know about The Queen. What a wonderful lady.

How classy that she takes the time to chat with junior ranked soldiers as well. What an honour.
  • The Queen looks slimmer I the face since Philip’s death. It is nice to see her out and about and she sounds so articulate, intelligent and informed. God save the Queen.

As a Canadian this makes me smile...and grieve. Rest in peace Your Majesty. And thank you.

She was such a wonderful person. While she spoke with all the people, she was interested in everyone the same way, made jokes, showed her emotions about other lifes...only few can do that and hold it for such long time. I have high respect for her, before and after. She is showing how human she is. Many think she is a person without emotions or everything is bad about her and the family. But it's not. They have conflicts like our families do, they also feel the same emotions like we do. We cannot burden them with how they should be. We also wouldn't like to hear that for us. popular people have a difficult life. Everyone watches and judges every step they make. Everyone knows better afterwards...

First video of Queen I’ve watched since her passing. She was simply the finest example of Royalty you could have ever wished for. Made me proud to be English. 😢
  • She was so good in making everyone comfortable in her presence despite being the most distinguished royalty in the world. She will always remain the Queen of the people. She is perpetual. May God save your soul, your Majesty! Rest in peace.
