We have archived plenty of Mascot horror games before on this channel and today we introduce some new faces! My Friendly Neighborhood mixes horror with puppets similar to the Muppets and those from Sesame Street. We work as a simple repairman who is called to shutdown a television show. But it won't take long before all the puppets start hunting us down and we have to fend for our lives.
The cool thing about My Friendly Neighborhood is that it has much more emphasis on gameplay compared to most other Mascot horror games and is similar to gameplay of Resident Evil. The inspiration of that survival horror classic can be seen everywhere: from the way you manage your inventory to how you move through doors.
The puzzles are also really clever and require some thinking without getting too frustrating. There is a lot of polish here and overall My Friendly Neighborhood is a horror game that can be enjoyed by both casual fans and hardcore gamers. A lot of secrets and optional stuff can be found and even cheats can be unlocked to make reruns that much more enjoyable! So grab a snack and soda, sit back and tune in to your favorite tv show with My Friendly Neighborhood!

It's so refreshing for a horror game like this to not even try to explain its antagonists, since those explanations in other games always wind up being "a human mind/soul is trapped inside a beloved childhood thing". And the production company itself seemingly did literally nothing wrong. Even the show's cancellation was because of societal changes outside of their control. It's such a change of pace from the usual "the company is hyperbolically evil for no good reason".

Of all the the crazy things I’ve seen in this game, I did not expect this game to be surprisingly wholesome with it’s characters. Rather than riding on the tropes of “Possessed Mascots” or “Psychopathic Experiments”, it’s the world that’s evil and selfish and the Puppets are just trying their best to keep the show going. The only evil puppets that I saw were those twisted by what society watched on the television while the puppets who appear monstrous don’t mean any harm and are simply misunderstood once you get to know them. It’s a refreshing new take on mascot horror that puts a lot of heartfelt moments into its story and characters. Also Arlo voicing Ricky the Sock was GOD TIER voice acting!

Love the voice acting, and plus the weapons are really creative. And thank you for a no commentary gameplay. It’s always nice to watch in silence

The true good ending, needs to do a lot of side quests. Give Pearl the big pink bird there glasses. Feed the dogs. Fix the drain in Ray's area. War movie for Goblette.
  • This is the kind of mascot horror I love! While FNaF is still my favorite I love the detail put into this game. And instead of “the mascots turned evil and stuff” this game shows that the mascots went insane due to the cruel world. And what makes it better is that it actually has some life lessons people can use in the real world!!!

1:40:23 - I like how when you get out of the cutscene one round has been used up in the indicator.
  • Bioshock, mascot horror, and Resident Evil. That put in a blender is what this game reminds me of.

i love how when the puppet falls from the ceiling you jumped lol

This had been on my radar since the early demos so glad to see your playthrough! The Vietnam War and disillusionment with the "American Dream" are really interesting sub-plots (sub-themes maybe more apt?) and I think they fit perfectly juxtaposed with the cheery PBS vibes. I personally would have liked to see it tied in a little more with the main plot or at least alluded to more, but there's always a fine line between "hey, look at this. makes ya think, huh?" and beating the player over the head with "THIS IS THE SYMBOLISM! THIS IS THE THEME!!!!" so I can't dock it too many points. Speaking of, I think the knockoff Henson production movie posters were one of my favorite set dressings.

It feels like a horror game and has lots of very creepy and scary moments but helping the puppets and bringing the show back on is actually pretty and heartwarming I didn’t expect that from this game I liked the good ending with Gordon helping the show get back on track I would have felt bad if I said no I was expecting a twist maybe Ricky was evil and the whole game was in Gordon’s imagination maybe he was in the war as a handyman but always wanted to run a show but Ricky was his inner demon making everything bad
  • 45:48 First I uh…uhh…I BEAT HIM TO THE GROUND, and then I uh…I STOMPED. I STOMPED HIS FACE. Then we started laughing at each other and everything was ok! That’s why you should always friends with friends who will forgive you! laughing

Wow! Pearl looks like Olive the Ostrich or Poppy the Big Bird from Welcome Home, but with a Live Action coat of paint.

i waited for this game to come out for so long and i really expect mark or jack to upload it early, i hope the game is getting the popular it deserves regardless
  • @octoberfluteplayer
The good ending is a little better after helping the puppets (return Pearl her glasses, help Ray fix the drain, put on the movie for Goblette and feed the dogs
  • @megaspear150
The best part about this game is that we maybe using a gun. But the gun is a non-killing people type and the voice acting too, their so cool man.

40:10 If I recall correctly, this was actually a bug that they decided to keep in. Also wish those "Unfriendly Puppets" got more screen time, I wanted to see their individual designs. One of them looked like he had a hook hand. And was that Lenard outside of the studio a sentient statue or something?
