Adam Savage Sorts His Workshop Blades!

That resigned pause and "sigh" seeing that wrench drawer at the end was so profoundly relatable that I felt it in my soul, lol. We have all been there, so proud of our latest finished project only to have to stare at the next one dead in the face.

The old drawer just wasn't cutting it.

For anyone else wondering what sci fi movie that xacto handle was from, some googling turned up they were weapon handles on chronicles of riddick!

I remember the day you got that workbench, all pristine and now looking at it now it clearly shows how it is such a daily used tool

The last time I saw that fancy blade handle Adam was talking about how every drawer he made he always tried to have one spot for a strange tool where only it could go. It struck me as a wonderfully Mystery-Box-In-The-Attic sort of vibe.

I’m amazed Adam didn’t cut himself during this process… he really has come a long way lol

This was a treat, thanks Adam! I think this video illustrates one of your skills that I'd really like to have. You slowly, methodically prepared the details before assembling the whole thing and it was both done in a jiffy and will save you time down the line. This is very hard to do and always enjoyable to see someone pull-off!

Adam, I feel your pain in how storage drawers/shelves have natural entropy. Just a few suggestions, for your box cutting blades, use a piece of metal rod to string the blades together and make the rod long enough to fit into the sides of your blade’s compartment. This way you can avoid sticking your fingers into an area where you can get cut. Also for your xacto knife handles, 3d print small inserts that allow you to string them side by side. And if you make them small enough you can make them so they can be stacked. 3d printed organizers are great little items to make and use. Even for allen wrenches. I always enjoy your shop reorganization videos.

Apparently im finally at the age where I enjoy watching people sort out their storage areas. Fuck yeah

love the fact that through all that functional organization,,,,you still ended up having one 'kitchen junk drawer' partition back right.

How ironic , also just organized my shop blades this week. I put all my different types of blades on my flatbed scanner, got the 2d image and traced it in fusion 360. Then extruded it to make 3d printed trays.
