In this video, Wes O'Donnell looks into the capabilities and strategic advantages of the StarStreak MANPAD that Ukrainian troops are currently training with in the UK. With its Mach 3 speed and advanced targeting system, the StarStreak is a game-changer in the fight against Russian air threats. Join Wes as he breaks down why this weapon is considered the best man-portable air defense missile available in the West and how it compares to other systems like the US-made Stinger and the Russian-made 9K38 IGLA.

Discover how the StarStreak's unique lethality and versatility—being deployable from shoulder launchers, vehicles, and drones—could help Ukraine move closer to achieving air superiority and protecting its skies from ongoing threats.

I was a detachment commander for this system, it's good and very fast, but it needs a lot of training to use it effectively. Its real advantage is that there's almost no weapon signature when it's fired, so the first a pilot knows that it's been fired is when their plane explodes. Just to correct you, the targets aren't painted with a laser, a laser grid is painted in the sky and the missile is always trying to get to the centre of that and the grid is controlled by the operator.

Слава Україні 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 Безмежно дякуємо за вашу допомогу!
  • STARSTREAK really is a complicated little bugger isn't it ! 3700+ kph is a crazy fast rocket, does anyone know what the compound is that they use for that rocket motor ? so Tungsten (hard as fuck) weighing around half a kilo slamming into target at 4500 kph with another half kilo of high explosive (what kind ? RDX maybe ?) is one hell of a vicious thing and there's three of them ! nothing survives that, unless it's a flying tank lol....just half a kilo of RDX is enough to turn a human into a fine pink mist..The ATACMS also uses Tungsten balls to shred machinery and anything else...

If Ukraine can buy them, I demand to be able to buy them, too. I also want an AI-Murderbot.

‘For gets’ read has been sold to for arms profit.
  • 😂🤣😂🤣😂…..omfg! So to use a lazer targeting system you have to have a visual lock on the target. Since Russia has been using helicopter launched anti armour/ personnel missiles that operate outside the visual range your miracle missile is going to be of limited use. We won’t even start about the FAB series arial strikes. “Slava” to your coping….

Not much good against small drones. Old weapon system playing catch up. War has moved on.

Ha!!!! Ok .... one: how much is the cost? Two: how many can be mfd in a year? The US only produces 550 Patriot missles per year. Russia will just fight a war of attrition - and win.
