Video gives an example of i-Stop as it applies in traffic.
Apologies for the poor quality. There is only so much you can do on a test drive.

the cx5 looks amazing and i'll only buy the diesel, so guess I have to wait till next year

Mazda, bring to the states!!

I'm not sure what you mean by "comparable," since the diesel has been rated at 50+ MPG vs. the gas engine's 35 MPG (hwy figures), plus the diesel has a lot more torque.

Just a warning that my i-stop failed to start the engine and the braked jammed at the bottom not releasing it self. Already replaced the ABS/DSC unit (Mazda claimed that maybe the cause).... But after 3 months, it happened again....

That may apply to some, but I find the temptation to drive hard has lost its appeal. Getting maximum MPG is much more satisfying, including all the cost savings (Peak Oil won't let it get cheaper). It's good to have torque when you need it but I like to put as little strain on engines as possible. I hope these Mazda low-compression diesels are as reliable as heavier ones. Clever engineering if it holds up.

how did you like the diesel version? They are supposed to bring them to the US in 2013 and I am getting interested....

And do it for well under $30k if possible.
