  • I am Malaysian. I like the interview you did. I hope this video helps us to correct the mistakes and shortcomings in our country. Keep it up my friend.❤

We will soon be traveling to KL and we are actually thinking about living in Malaysia as expats. These kinds of interviews are very helpful for us. Thank you for that! :)
  • @jaynern
He love the night live in Thailand but he complain about smoking habit in Malaysia. Strange….

Welcome back to KL Chai.. I can summerised here that most westerners love Thailand or Bangkok particularly because of the nite life there. They like the sleazy nite life so that’s why they said nite life in KL is boring. To these westerners KL can’t be Bangkok… Bangkok can’t be KL…each city has its own attractions. If they love those sleazy places Bangkok is the right city for them whereas KL is more for family oriented and for those who love to shop…
  • This time, your video's title, "Bitter Truth About Malaysia," quickly caught my attention because I have my own bitter truth, especially regarding Kuala Lumpur. I wholeheartedly concurred with one of your interviewees who mentioned that KL is less walkable, particularly for those with disabilities. The majority of the pathways in KL have uneven surfaces and are somewhat narrow. Furthermore, there are a lot of motorcycles parked along the pathways, which makes them much more difficult to navigate. In popular tourist destinations like Bukit Bintang, there are a lot of foreign beggars. This predicament damages Malaysia's reputation. Certain parts of KL, like the region behind Kota Raya, give you the impression that you are abroad. It's crowded with Bangladeshis who treat you like you're in Dhakka. I hope that Kuala Lumpur's City Hall and other officials would pay attention to all of the complaints and make improvements to the city to make it more user-friendly for both locals and tourists.

Thank you for the wonderful interviews in this video. Bitter truth, foreign tourists can't tell between the local Malaysian and all the illegal immigrants, after all we are all Asians.

c’mon… how can u compare thailand n Malaysia… here is more for family oriented things… we don’t hv local bar girls prancing our pubs like thailand… so diff ball game… happening nightlife is wat western tourists like… diff country diff things they offer… i do not want malaysia to become like thailand…. vietnam or indonesia… each country has its own uniqueness… stop comparing…

In all Honesty I have to agree. I’m going back to KL in March, after having been twice last year. What I actually noticed a little of in May, then even more in November, was that there were a lot of East African (mostly Kenyan women) hanging about in the Changkat area of Bukit Bintang. I spotted like one or two Malay-Chinese escorts, but the ones I noticed more of (being a black female myself) were the black women who I thought were waiting for their mates outside some of the bars. However, turns out once I clocked, that these women weren’t exactly dressed like they were on a night out. They were prostitutes. It’s sad to see, and tbh, I personally felt sickened. I found out that some go to Malaysia on student visas n then somehow get roped into prostitution. I personally feel it’s disrespectful and disgraceful of them to do that. It also then will create a negative stereotype of other black women. I’m of Caribbean descent and have a different look, however it’s wrong. They leave their home country to do this? And I dk why the authorities are not doing anything about it? To me, they made the area look bad and they looked cheap. Sorry but it’s the truth. Call a spade a spade. Regardless of the fact that you wanna work, get a proper job 👍🏾! Don’t go to another country to cheapen yourself! I’m not gonna feel sorry for them, coz they don’t deserve sympathy. I love KL, and I love Bukit Bintang, but the area wasn’t like that when I first visited in 2007. It’s still a great city, but I don’t like that some of these ladies will create a negative impression for other black women like myself.

We like both Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur but our favourite is KL. Malaysian people are very friendly and maybe KL is a bit less chaotic. The malls in Malaysia are much colder than the malls in Thailand. It’s crazy how cold they keep hotels and malls in Malaysia. 🥶. Our home is in Canada - we tried to escape the cold. 😂
  • Some seem a little hesitant to give their response. Perhaps you could rephrase your question, "What are the things that you believe they should improve on?" Or "Things they can make it much better?" That way probably they will give more examples. No one wants to condemn a country they are currently staying or living in. However, people are open to give ideas to make things better. Censor their face, protect their identity. That lady mentioned about the human trafficking, she might know something but doesn't want to disclose further. You know, her face right there you are jeopardizing her safety. Some sensitive matters really should not be interviewed in such manner. Your episode is about bitter truth, but protect their identity and safety.

Chaii you are back in Malaysia man! Welcome back! Awesome vid as always!
  • @brothersman524
I have visited South East Asia numerous times (Malaysia 6 times, Thailand 4 times, Indonesia 3 times, Singapore 3 times, Philippines twice, Brunei once and Vietnam once) and I will say Malaysia is definitely my favourite country in SE Asia. There are negatives in all countries you see and visit. Weirdly enough, I've never been to your country The Netherlands even though I am only across the English Channel in England. To be honest, I don't really explore Europe apart from the Mediterranean countries but I have done 20-odd countries in Asia alone.
  • @widyacanz
I've been to KL twice and I think it's a very enjoyable city. It's not too hectic compared to some other cities in SEA, it has beautiful trees all over the city, beautiful buildings and it's good for shopping and eating out because they have so many options and it's affordable.

Great work Chai. I thought the Scottish guy was excellent in particular and all interviewees added value as well. I was also pleased that we heard from a local so there was a good balance of information to learn from. Cheers champ 🤩
