  • Lighten up. Its just a light hearted tv show with alot of heart.

Something I’d like to add, the actual look of Cobra Kai has changed drastically. The first few seasons felt realistically shot with lots of dark colors, but now it feels like Marvel with the flashy vibrant colors.

As a martial artist (albeit probably not as experienced as you), I have no issue using suspension of disbelief to enjoy this show. First of all, Cobra Kai never claimed to portray a realistic representation of karate competitions. I appreciate the exclusion of safety equipment as a way to make fight scenes more cinematic and aesthetically pleasing, and I appreciate the exclusion of colored belts because it would be a too "on the nose" way to show ranking within the dojos. With regards to the goofiness and the lack of realism, part of the KK universe charm is overhyping the importance of karate when it comes to how much people care about it and how useful it is in the context of solving real-world problems. Later seasons have also included a comedy aspect (that often relies on Johnny's goofiness) that, understandably, is not everyone's cup of tea. However, it is just a matter of personal taste.

I understand that the cobra kai fighting might not be realistic anymore but me personally I think it makes it more entertaining and it is still one of my favorite shows
  • In the original Karate Kid the tournament was blackbelt only and Mr Miyagi stole a black belt from the check in and gave it to Daniel. After that the franchise completely forgot about it.

The sixed season gets even goofier, I began to realize that I need to watch the show with my brain shut off, I enjoyed it way more when I wasn't trying to have a reasonable explanation to everything.

1st thing I feel is Cobra Kai focuses on Tang Soo Do or some kind of Korean martial art, not mainly about karate. 2nd thing is it has become more unrealistic after Netflix took over. They are just making the story longer tbh. 3rd I hoped they would focus more on people and life and how Johnny would succeed. But what they focused for all these seasons is more about Daniel and the tournament than the story.

honestly i dont know how i feel about s6. its just so unrealistic. they made dimitri beat hawk like seriously? no way is dimitri of all people beating hawk. its insane to me that hawk wasnt an orignal for the team instead he was a replacement. most of us can agree hawk is a top 3 strongest teen so how on earth did he lose to dimitri and not be an original for the team. also kwon the new antagonist i really like him but i dont see any possible way miguel or robby are beating him. they guy beat 3 of the strongest people in his dojo with ease. ill always like cobrakai but its gotten so unrealistic

Cobra Kai is really meant for entertainment and there has to be a real suspension of disbelief. I have thought more and more that Daniel and Johnny are reckless. They have students from all backgrounds and some have been abused. The character Tory is revealed in season 6 that her mother was physically abused by the husband, she is poor, working two jobs, mother is sick,...this is getting darker and more realistic to sadly what a lot of kids face in their lives.

Michael ironside did the voice for Darkside in the DCAU superman/justice league. he was awesome too. he also played a big bad guy in a 4 parter (4 episode) story in Walker texas Ranger one year.

I really liked Season 1 it was special for so many reasons, the teens weren't downright silly and overdramatic, and the old cast was re-introduced to near perfection, and this continued (albeit inconsistently) till Season 4. I started to feel disconnected from the show when Season 5 came out it just felt too outlandish for me and this carried over to Season 6. I still love the characters and I will definitely continue watching the show but I would really love the Season 1 and Season 2 vibes again.
  • @danbh84
well it's nearly done so you may as well watch the rest - which am sure you will anyway.. ;-)
  • @spicymemes7458
Realism? Seriously? It's basically Star Wars/Game of Thrones with katate dojos. The world revolves around karate like Yugioh and trading cards. What are we doing here? It was always wholesale ridiculous.
  • @Jairgalan6446
You should probably watch it of the new tournament called the sekai takai I big huge world wide tournament wish I guess only top six students can compete wish Mr.Miyagi possibly fought in and his captain headband had blood in it wish seems like the sekai takai is a serious and dangerous tournament for kids you should give it a watch and tell us what you think of it

this review makes no sense yeah it's unrealistic in some parts but no tv show is 100% realism, show is greatly written and has awesome character arcs.

It’s a fictional show… ripping it for not being realistic is too easy. I like it because it takes me away from reality… it’s not that deep.
