Today I'm working on a vintage and rare toy, USAF GEMINI X-5 space ship, made in Japan in 1960's by Masudaya Toys Co.
I bought it on Ebay for 30 $.
The seller told me that he didn't know if it worked but by disassembling it, I had the bad surprise to discover it had already been modified before.
The engine was missing and the bulbs no longer worked.
It took me a month to restore but it was worth it, watch till the end to see this beautiful old toy in action.
Thanks a lot for watching !

You made a 62 year old man smile seeing this, I don’t recall having seen this, but most certainly had toys of this ilk…thank you, well done.

As a Japanese, I'm so proud that this toy is made in Japan.

I'm impressed! You painted all those rivets one by one... And I didn't expect that astronaut spinning above the ship! 😅

i wish my mother had given me half of the care and attention that you have given this 1960s japanese space toy
  • I restore things too but mate , to be honest , I don’t think I’m able to remake the paint you did to this toy ! Amazing 🤩

Both the original toy and the attention to detail that went into its restoration are nothing short of incredible. This toy was nearly 20 years before my time but it reminded me of similar toys that existed in the early 80s... I miss when toys were built with such amazing ingenuity.

I had one of these as a child. Amazing little toys. I still have the western locomotive engine I was given 60 years ago. It could use gentle restoration.
