My MINIMALIST BEARD & HAIR Style

Published 2019-07-08
As I mature myself and slide gracefully into my 40's, one of the first things I wanted to tackle was my style and how i look. The easiest thing to change is hair.
In this Video, I share my mindset, problems, solutions, and insights into how I came across my newest Short beard and mature hairstyle.
I also go into the details about my beard, mustache, and hair and what's new and different than before.
It may seem superfluous information, or slightly different, however, my journey isn't supposed to be a big bang as it is a slow climb, this is just one step into the maturity I envision myself becoming when I hit my 40's.
I'm excited to share my journey as I go throughout this year!

Very nice look for you. Your reasoning is very understandable. Your beard has always looked good for the time it was in, but now I see & understand why you are thinking this way. I appreciate your intelligence & maturity. Your honesty is like a breath of fresh air. Thank you
  • As we mature then ones personal style is open to change, and how fantastic that is, otherwise we’d be stagnant on every level of who we are. Great video, really enjoyed it.

Your beard was the reason I grow mine. 🙏

I think it should not really matter if someone like me or someone else thinks it's good that you've decided on a shorter beard. I myself find the message you give us here so much more important and to see how much better you seem to feel ... Personally, 4 years ago your BigBeard and your style inspired me to grow a beard and change my appearance. Since then, I also change the length every now and then, even sometimes completely shaved, just to watch how it is without and to see him grow again ... Changes are part of it and they are not always negative - as in your case once again the best example. Thank you

I just turned 40. My beard is fairly long but it’s still pretty professional. I personally like the attention my beard gets. Just so you know your beard and channel has been an inspiration and very helpful. ✌🏼

I’m a big fan of you Jeff and whatever you do. Keep on growing!

I decided to grow a beard years ago. You have been my model to follow. Thanks jeff

Great work buddy! I’m going through the same changes at the minute. I had a big red beard for a long time and it dominated my face for a long time (paired with long hair). Now I have a peaky blinders style hairstyle with a shorter beard. My baby daughter keeps grabbing my beard so it might have to go a lot shorter, dreading it but I think it’s the right move

I agree with everything you said man , your beard is beautiful! I'm using beard because I like, with people don't like it's their problem not my.

At 73 I have a very quiet and controlled life and when I saw one of your videos I decided it was time to see if a man my age could grow a beard like yours. Eight months of Covid quarantine and damn if I don't have something going on.The cheeks are the toughest part for me and the color is all over the place but in a year I should be able to trim it to what I want. It takes a lot to get the thickness going and Ive followed what so many said and have not trimmed it. The sad part about all this is I can't go out and show it off until Mask time is over. Im excited that the last phase of my life will attract a little attention and fun. Thanks for getting me out of my old man rut.

I grew out my beard for ten months with three ”shaping” trims spaced out. I did it because I never had and wanted to see what I could grow. Sure, I can grow a full beard, but I realized that there was more to me than my beard. I’ve since trimmed it down to 12mm. I’m going to grow it for 60-90 days for a fuller, but more manageable look. Evolution, I suppose, but I’m also interested in changing my look a bit. Thanks for making this video. We are more than our beards and not all great beards are massive. It's really a question of confidence! Thanks, Jeff!

Looks good man. I’m growing out mine now from a blade # 2 to a blade # 4 . Tbh your prev length was efn sweet, you can always grow back from here though, now length looks good as you have such consistent growth
  • @zivaray
    Beautiful and inspirational video.

Your athletic beard was 1 of 2 images I offered my barber to give me 1st good shaping of this Spring. Thank you for the inspiration. I’ve gone shorter for summer too, tangible- not “come and go” “I’m macho” “taste my sweat” stubble.
  • @PeedyPeter
You certainly make a good argument. choose a style for you not for others, but at the same time don't change because of the attention you get from others... difficult dilemma. Something I have been wondering myself, do people notice me for me or just because I got a beard... keep up the good work and do the things you want to do, not because we (the audience) would like to see them. Also good luck with the the new roads you're carving out in your journey.
  • @TheBengaal
You don't wanna be "that guy with the long beard". But honestly mate, with your genetics....any beardstyle will get people to notice that good beard! I like this style of yours the most as well. Rocking it myself.
  • I’m digging the new approach to content Jeff, good stuff here. I’m sure it’s been kind of strange being so consumed by something as trivial as facial hair for so long. I don’t have nearly as many eyes on me and I still feel like I wear a beard for others, and that I’m so absorbed with what they think. I recently brought it back to just a mustache (with some long stubble) and I get some looks from people. But I’m kind of sick of worrying so much about what others think of my style - I like how I look with a mustache, so I’m going to wear one. Same with the beard, I wear it because that’s what I like, not because it’s in vogue or because others approve. Anyway, keep up the good work, and enjoy the new look 👍🏻 cheers.

Everyone's journey is unique and you're doing it for the right reasons (your growth, not someone else's idea of what your growth should be). I've gone shorter in the hair, longer in the beard and fuller stache, and new glasses to boot, and I'm sure I'll change that up again at some point. Oh and Happy Belated Birthday, you're a young'n haha... (I'm 46). - Jim
