This is a great classroom game that everyone can play.

Step 1: Choose player
Choose seven players to be "it." Have them stand in the front of the room. The remaining players will sit at their desks.

Step 2: Pick a person
Say "heads down, thumbs up – time to play seven up" if you are the teacher.

Step 3: Put thumbs up
Put your head down and your thumb up if you are a player.

Step 4: Pick a person
Pick one player within one minute if you are 'it.' Pick players by touching their raised thumbs. Chosen players lower their thumbs when they are touched.

Tip
Make sure everyone has their head on their desk so they cannot cheat by looking at your shoes as you walk by to tap them.

Step 5: Return to front
Return to the front of the class when you are done picking. The teacher then says 'heads up, seven up.' The players who had their thumbs touched stand up.

Step 6: Stand up and guess
The players who had their thumbs touched stand and take one guess which player touched their thumbs. If they guess right, they switch with the person who touched their thumb. If not, the player who chose them gets to be it again.

Step 7: Continue playing
Continue playing until everyone gets a chance to be it.

Did You Know?
Did you know? There are 34 muscles that move the fingers and thumb.

I used to sabotage the game, by tapping my neighbor's head when no one was looking, and laughing at the ensuing confusion when eight students stood up.

Lol, I remember when I was in my early years of school, this one kid was finally picked after a whole year. He thought his friend chose him, because he was shaking his head at him. He got mad and threw his chair across the room, hitting me. blood and tears came from one child, which wasn’t me.

I used to fuck around in this game so much! When I had my head down I looked at other peoples shoes and when I was up I picked more than one person to make more confusion afterwards xD

I remember being the new kid and never hearing about this game. Nobody tried to explain it to me, but the teachers would play it often. Eventually it got to the point where I'd just sit there with my head down and the only other involvement I'd have is saying "seven up". I was so confused and felt left out.

Aha hands up for who ever use to sleep on this game ✋! 😂
  • It's funny that this is a excellent way for a teacher to find cheaters...

I played Heads Up Seven Up in the 3rd Grade-5th Grade at my former elementary school. It isn't easy, but it takes a lot of patience to master a game like this one.
