That was not a temper tantrum. That was a teenage girl having a mental breakdown because of the abuse and negligence she has suffered at the hands of the adults around her. Stop victim blaming & shaming her for human reactions due to the treatment she has been given.
  • @aslater5
The Japanese skater showed class by congratulating and comforting Anna.
  • @lillipad67
Kamila getting forth after being the predicted gold medalist, Sasha having a full on mental breakdown, Anna in that catatonic state, this is so unbelievably heartbreaking and unprecedented.
  • @judythegirl3867
This whole thing is very unsettling. It's devastating to watch a gold medalist be left alone and a silver medalist have such a breakdown on an international stage.
  • @sassmonster3422
This is heartbreaking. One teenager is absolutely devastated at placing 2nd in the Olympics, another crumbles under the pressure on an international stage and the winner gets ignored by her team. Women’s sports needs to be JUST THAT- for adult women. These teenagers are so young, and are not equipped for the emotional stress this kind of training puts on them.
  • The fact that the happiest in the video was the bronze medalist speaks volumes of the climate of Russian skating
  • @madison5116
This is just a tragic situation. Not only does Olympic figure skating need to change, but the IOC needs some changes of their own. To not only allow Kamilla preform after the drug reports, and not hold her coaches accountable is an embarrassment. Seeing these young women be overworked and exploited feels unreal. I think we can only hope for the best going forwards.

The Japanese Skater giving the Gold Medalist a hug when she was all alone is the MVP
  • @travistabor1051
Seeing Anna all by herself and alone as she won gold was quite heartbreaking to watch.

Kaori Sakamoto was the only one who looked genuinely pleased with her outcome. Bronze medalist and wonderful young lady. Her coach and parents should be commended.
  • One of the most dramatic Olympic moments I've ever seen...Sasha does impossible and finishes 2nd, accomplishing one dream, but loses another. Kamila is destroyed by the vulturous press and Anna is a loneliest winner...
  • Not only is Kaori the only one happy about where she placed, she's the only one who gave Anna a hug and congratulated her. A competitor was the only one who acknowledged Anna in what was supposed to be her moment. I feel so terrible for her. She was made to feel bad about a win she earned. One half of the entourage rallied around the girl who fell, and the other half was was trying to calm down the silver medalist who went on a tirade. Beyond doubt, this is the craziest drama to occur in Olympic figure skating since the rigged judging scandal in Salt Lake '02.

I just love Kiaori sakamoto, going over to hug Anna after she realized she won the gold, thats the only congrats anna got for a good minute or so
  • Imagine working years busting your butt, getting to the Olympics, winning gold, and your entire team abandons you to console others. Not a single congratulations for a hot second, nobody saying I’m proud of you. Your Olympic moment which you’ve dreamt about as a kid ruined because adults could not act like adults and step up. Absolutely tragic
  • @brianw4477
This was so gut wrenching to watch. Based on their reactions, it really makes me wonder if Kamila Valieva was instructed by her coach to throw the competition and Trusova was promised by the coach that she would win the gold. They thought their unemotional routines would win out because they had many more quads.
  • @lm.1221
Seeing these poor girls look so nervous, frightened, or just overwhelmed is so sad. They need someone to be there for them, and not to just see them as a tool for medals and replaceable. ALSO HOW IS THIS NOT CHILD ABUSE???
  • @prettykitty3454
This is the saddest thing I have ever seen in olympic history. All of these girls deserved better in everything. Bless Kaori for being there for Anna and giving her a hug. You can just see the shock on her face. Let us hope that this whole incident will cause some positive changes in figure skating in the future. So many loopholes that were exploited. I actually cried watching this.
  • @Andrea-yh3rc
Okay, but I wish this showed more of Kaori's reaction. She richly deserved her moment. And it illustrated so clearly the gap between the unhealthy, terrible environment fostered by the Eteri camp and Kaori's pure, unsullied reaction to winning a medal
  • Anna was absolutely breath taking in her performance. Well deserved gold medal. I wish her all the best. Same to all of the athletes.
  • @3Axel1996
Meanwhile NBC Sports decided that Kaori Sakamoto's reactions were not dramatic enough for this montage. Her reactions were priceless.
