"But god said that if I eat it, I'll die" "Nuh uh" said the snake
  • Gabriel telling satan "you're not that guy" and pulling out character stats to back it up always gets a chuckle out of me

"That cherub is really going through it man.....wait a minute cherubs don't cry" - Uriel
  • "just as satan carries hell , we carry eden " . thats some powerful words right there ive never thought about it like that . gives me hope as well in my faith.

The description of Lucifer being struck by Michael's god given sword is the first experience of pain in the universe is one of the most metal things i've ever heard.

"Man, that cherub is going through it" - Uriel

The idea of Adam sitting there making her a flower crown because she's his queen is so wholesome and adorable af
  • I loved that part when Satan told Eve about how awful Florence was and then Virgil stopped them from eating the fruit of knowledge, giving Satan second thoughts about his plan
  • The most amazing thing about all this in my opinion is that Milton didn't "write" Paradise Lost; one of the greatest pieces of literature in the English canon: he was blind, so dictated the entire story to his daughters who wrote it down for him. This man had to imagine this entire thing and couldn't keep any notes or references, since he couldn't read what he'd written!
  • 1:30:15 This is hilarious to me. I love the idea of a bunch of demons sitting in Hell just doing their evil demon things and then suddenly they’re like “Aw crap, it’s Snake Week again.”

1:23:05 the saddest thing is that nobody realizes this is the first time love was wasted on arguing. The time they spend now arguing instead of loving each other is limited because she ate the fruit. Before it was eternal and now everything, even love has to come to an end. Truly a paradise lost

Even as a non-believer, I find the passion you have for your faith so wonderful. There was something so beautifully human and pure about this story, which I think at its core is a celebration of humanity and of love. It could bring anyone to tears

The idea of Gabriel saying he’d body Satan in an instant and then Satan glaring while walking away is so funny to me
  • "Look at the chart. I would body you in an instant. " is the single greatest characterization of an Angel speaking to Satan I have ever heard. 45:00 for anyone wanting to hear it again XD

I completely agree with your rant at the end. So many people see paradise lost as some kind of ballad to Satan as some kind of antihero who was just misunderstood, and the 'real tyranny' was God the whole time. I question their literacy.
  • The fact that Eve considered suicide is such a heartbreaking thought, I can't help but pity her and Adam

What astounds me most about this twelve-volume poem is that Milton, having gone blind fifteen years before Paradise Lost was published, dictated the entire thing to his daughter, which she then wrote down. Milton evoking such beautiful imagery while blind reminds me of Beethoven composing the Ninth Symphony while completely deaf. Absolutely amazing

It wasn't cringe when you cried, it was sweet :) Even as someone who knows next to nothing about Christian stories or your religion, I can see your passion about it and it's lovely
