Cutting out the gar was a big missed opportunity for Halo: fishing evolved. Imagine master chief or arbiter screaming at you for getting a line caught up in a branch instead of your dad.

Something that's also interesting is there are Fish on the map Valhalla in Halo 3. In the water, you can shoot / throw a grenade and they'll spawn floating on top of the water. 343's remakes seem to miss these small features, as if they didn't know about them to begin with.
