Ty Lee was a formidable hand-to-hand combatant, often utilizing chi blocking, a unique form of martial arts which targets pressure points located in the human body. By striking these, she was able to disrupt an individual's chi flow and temporarily paralyze them, thereby also preventing the victim from bending for a period of time.

  • I love ty Lee not only for her personality and loyalty to her actual friends but she's one of the non benders that could actually defend herself against any elemental bender. Well maybe not every bender.

I love how at 0:58 when she hits his head it hurts her own fist. it's really hilarious bc sokka is completely defenseless, but the only thing hard enough to take a punch from Ty Lee was his "thick skull" , it's a reference to sokka being "hard headed" and it's gold lmao

It's kinda ironic how Ty left her family to join the circus - reason being her sisters were practically identical to her and in the the end she became a Kyoshi Warrior. Where you wear the SAME outfit and makeup as the rest of the fighters.
  • What I find fascinating about Ty Lee’s character is that despite initially being the enemy of Team Avatar and a chi blocking master, she never displayed any killer instinct!

I just love the fact that Ty Lee and Mai were just casually the two strongest Non Benders in the show
  • @kowelao
Ty lee : hitting sokka every where Sokka : haha arm and leg go wobble
  • Ty Lee trying to teach Bosco how to walk on his front paws (and Bosco applauding when she gets tied up by the earthbending) is low key one of the most adorable moments of the entire show.

Fun fact, Azula picked two people to help her that were absolutely complementary; tyler is better suited for close combat while Mai is better suited for long range

She is so memorable and her style of fighting is so cool. Doesn’t take brute force just precision and quickness
  • One of the best jokes in the entire series is when Ty Lee fails to chi-disable Sokka by landing her snake-strike right in the center of his forehead, and it is her hand that gets bruised from it.
  • I like how those two Kyoshi Warriors she hugs at the very end kinda resemble Mai and Azula

Here's a theory I once read that really made sense to me. Ty Lee is actually a descendant of an airbender who later moved to the Fire Nation. Reasons why: 1. Her eyes are grey like Aang's and the other airbenders that we once saw. 2. She intentionally fights by doing no harm to her opponents, as a way of peacefully defeating them. 3. She always acts as the voice of reason and peace whenever she's with Mai and Azula. 4. She's constantly happy which connects the history that the Air Nomads had a great sense of humor and fun. 5. Chi blocking could have been adapted from old styles of bending passed down to the non-benders of the Air Nomads. So it can be safe to say that Ty Lee ancestors could possibly be one of the Air Nomads.
  • 0:01 Why is no one talking about the fact that ty lee, at the age of 14, has the upper body strength to literally do a hand stand on her index fingers?
  • @Jds_7
Fun fact : Ty Lee’s martial art is inspired by Dim Mak, a branch from Kung-Fu that consist of aiming and hitting pressure points in order to instantly kill the opponent
  • Suki's the only character to match her, and Azula's the only one she was afraid of. She never fought Aang, though.
