I called the Nintendo hotline once. The guy was awesome and got me through something I was stuck on.

What I love about this, is that its genuine reporting. This woman got into some games and truthfully enjoyed them and showed that video games are for everyone, and its something many people enjoy. She isn't slamming the industry for easy views and ratings, she is educating, and showing another perspective many conservative families who don't know what video games are, may not normally see. Bravo!

(3:03) The title screen to MOTHER 1 (planned to be called "EARTH BOUND" once it released in America in 1991) can be seen here. MOTHER 1 was already fully translated into English & readyy release along with a strategy guide and a poster, but at the last second MOTHER 1's international release got canned due to NIntendo of America not wanting to spend that much money mass producing strategy guides, posters, and spend that much money marketing a NES game (let alone a RPG, which back then that genre didn't sell too well in America) during the beginning of the SNES era of gaming. MOTHER 1 US being one of the games just casually being played by one of the video game hotline counselors as if its another NES that didn't end up being cancelled and lost to time for a good few years is crazy to me and just shows how close America really was to receiving MOTHER 1 back in the early 90s

This would have been a cool job to have. Back in the 90s game counselors for Nintentdo and Ultima Online were awesome jobs.

"This is one guy that let's his fingers do the talking" That's what she said.

I never knew people phoned the Nintendo hotline to tell them they'd completed a tough part, or to tell them about the secret glitches. Now I'm picturing some kid celebrating on the phone that he beat Bowser in Super Mario World, and the hotline agent telling him did he know there's a secret star world? And the kid freaking out

Lol I love this. It's funny when the news tries to jump on a story about something that's popular at the time but they really seem way out in left field with their understanding of it. This was an incredible time to be a gamer. So much fun back then. Loved every minute of it.
  • That was the beauty about gaming back then during the 80s and 90s. No internet to cheat, less realistic games, and developers were more creative because of system limitations.
