The fact that Hanks not only stays in touch with his child co-star and makes a point to pay tribute to him as a veteran says alot about the man's character.

"My daddy makes grease." That is such a priceless behind-the-scenes story from FORREST GUMP.

Imagine having your childhood quirks preserved in form of a movie character.. by TOM HANKS.

6:00 After all the jokes at Walliams expense, Capaldi pointing out David swam the English Channel for charity was quite touching.

man that accent really made the movie that much better.

Tom Hanks is a literal national treasure. It’s impossible to dislike him.
  • I love that Tom Hanks decided to model his speech after the child's, instead of probably traumatizing the kid about how he spoke.

Tom just took the time to say that he is a veteran. Tom is an incredible guy.

The fact that Tom Hanks can pull out his Forest Gump voice flawlessly still, makes me so happy its insane

Talk about showing respect: "He was 7 or 8 years old, a young man ..."

I love how Peter Capaldi wants to share his success with others - passing around the Oscar, just having fun with it. He was like that during his tenure on Doctor Who as well, wanting his character to have some cheaper costumes so it would be easier for fans to afford to cosplay the character since it's normal costuming was typically very expensive. It seems both he and Hanks have managed to stay real and grounded in an industry that makes that nearly impossible.

I swear, The Graham Norton Show blows away anything we have in the States. He gets all of the best actors and he is able to get the best out of them.
  • If Forrest Gump didn’t have the accent the movie wouldn’t be what it was today

Tom Hanks reminds me so much of Jimmy Stewart. Talented, absolutely. Intelligent, without a doubt. But also comfortable with himself. There seems to be a confidence without the arrogance.

Something as small as Tom asking "Why don't I just talk the way he talks right now?" probably made that kid way more comfortable at the time.

I think Tom hanks is the nicest person on the planet

I love how Peter Capaldi talks about winning an Oscar for a short film was almost underwhelming, and recently he was one of BBC's most iconic characters.

I hope he and his wife as well as everybody else recovers from Coronavirus. Godbless us all
