SCOOB, the Scooby-Doo theatrical release of 2020, was getting a sequel spinoff called SCOOB: Holiday Haunt for HBO Max. However, Warner Bros suddenly cancelled SCOOB: Holiday Haunt (and Batgirl), with no hope in sight for Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc gang's newest adventure.

The worst part about the cancellation of this new Scooby-Doo movie is that production on it was nearing the finish line. Cast and crew members made it clear that most of the work on Holiday Haunt was done. It would be ready to release sometime in Holiday 2022, but Warner Bros has other plans. Will we ever get to watch this SCOOB sequel?

  • They cancelled a movie that was literally ALMOST FINISHED!? Are you serious?? That wasted so much of people's time because of it being cancelled
  • Here's more bad news. Paul Dini (one of the writers of the movie) talked about how an early version of the movie was shown to a test audience, and the reception was overwhelmingly positive. Given his credentials (not just in projects like Batman The Animated Series or the first 2 seasons of Duck Dodgers, but also Scooby Doo projects like the Abracadabra Doo movie and the Halloween episode of The New Scooby Doo Mysteries), i can definitely believe that he did well. This just really stinks.
  • Sometimes these studios need to give more movies and TV show’s a “chance” instead of canceling them. 😭😭😭
  • @Imasuky
Dang, hearing him talk about how excited he was for it is so sad.
  • This really sucks big time, especially because they never gave an official reason for why they cancelled the sequel or if they did give a reason then i haven't heard about it.
  • @juanrisa945
You know, a page (i think ScreenRant or CBR) pointed out this might bite Warner in the ass by pointing out that filmmakers might become more reclutant to work with Warner knowing their films might get cancelled even a few days before release.
  • Funny how the original movie is hated and when the holiday special got canceled. Everyone actually cared.
  • @littlemisstfc
What hurts is that the Sheriff from Mystery Inc would’ve make his first appearance since the show! 😭
  • I really want SCOOB holiday Haunt to come out. In 2020, SCOOB was the movie that helped me cope with the fact I had lost my dog the day prior and helped me cope with the fact she was gone and this movie has a special place in my heart
  • The crew really does deserve better. People dump their heart and souls into creating this work and then it just gets tossed like trash by higher ups who only care about $$$.
  • @omoniyia
This looked interesting. Too bad its cancelled now.
  • @DayoDusk
I wouldn't be surprised if the movie ends up leaking online if the movie really was almost finished it's happened before.
  • I think it’s because of the merger with Discovery. When Comcast bought Dreamworks, a lot of their films were canceled, like Larikans, the original version of The Croods: A New Age, and the original Dreamworks version of Vivo.
  • This is a big travesty. I feel really sad for the team working on the special and I really wish Warner Bros. would listen to us about the project. Let’s do everything we can to spread awareness about it!
  • Despite it’s flaws and issues, i loved Scoob! 2020 a lot actually. It’s my personal favorite origin story of Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Such a shame that we won’t see the sequel of this interpretation of these beloved characters 😢
  • Nick: I’m the worst when it comes to canceling things! Netflix: No! I am! Warner Bros.: Amateurs. Netflix: What was that punk?! Warner Bros.: Amateurs.
