The conflict in Gaza is heartbreaking, so we decided to have different perspectives on to help us learn more. For the Israel perspective we welcome Rabbi David Wolpe.

David Wolpe is a rabbi, author and speaker who spent 27 years leading the Sinai Temple in Los Angeles. He has also led numerous missions to Israel and taught at the Harvard Divinity School, UCLA, and more.

David joins Theo to talk about the history of Jewish people in the world, the resiliency of Israel in the region, and what both sides could do to create peace.

  • Theo, After watching this episode along with the previous one, I wanted to tell you what an important contribution you are providing to everyone. I watched both episodes and you were there with your honesty, respect and interest that many people can not display. For some reason this brought me here to the comment section to tell you that you are valued and important and need to be heard. You are funny, sensitive, engaging and humble. All fine qualities in a person to possess. We can feel your pain at times and that brings us closer to you. I'm probably not your typical listener since Im more like your mothers age but I see your purpose and kindness and I return to hear you again and again. No matter the age difference, we can all learn from each other. I wish you peace, love and kindness always.

Theo… the sign that you’re a good person is the comments in your section. There’s no hate. I really appreciate you having a discussion on both sides.
  • @CezaMVO
What the freak, 2 episodes, 2 guests from each side sharing their pov. Theo is going above and beyond for us.
  • Mr Von is somehow absurdly hilarious and then out of nowhere he does something serious like this, love it
  • @Exary
OH so that's why 2 episodes dropped at exactly the same time. Very good decision!
  • @rowang.2760
Theo’s giving us real journalism, imagine that. Informing the people, and being humble and humane as an interviewer. A real American — standing up for humaneness and emotion.
  • @kingizo1177
Bassem brought facts and proof! This rabbi talks off of emotions, truth always prevails
  • @hwfghfwg
A whole lot of words without any depth, rationale or understanding behind them. Bassem's argument is clear, concise, and displays a significant educational foundation on the topic. I know who I trust...
  • As an everyday American without a dog in the fight, the cardiologist made a hell of alot more sense.
  • @parlance283
ma boy doesn't want to say where the border is, because to claim all the land to the Jordan river would be illegal.
  • @philldag9212
Saying that the Palestinians can end all of this by just saying we want peace in other words just give up your land and the war is over…
  • I got to go in 2013. What I found was, you have no idea how small an area it and how close the two sides live to each other. Like if Beverley Hills and West Hollywood were at war so they build a wall along Doheny.
  • @jonnelson9814
Watched both episodes with zero bias. The Arab dude was far more convincing and you could feel his passion. This rabbi felt apathetic
  • @antsbruh
This feels like emotional manipulation, the cardiologist was on a whole other level. Thank you Von for doing this!
  • @Mushu_tunes
Love the fearlessness in your hunger to learn Theo, we all appreciate it ✌🏾
  • 16:47 The reason people are protesting the genocide in Palestine as opposed to the other genocides and tragedies occurring throughout the world because the US plays a direct role in the Palestinian genocide by shelling out billions of dollars to Israel. Same goes with the students in universities protesting, by protesting the occupation and genocide, they are actually getting their universities to divest and therefore actually making a difference.
  • @Knifymoloko
Curious if anyone savy can do a side-by-side comparison of how this Rabbi explains the history and how Bassem explained the history.
  • @victoryu4492
No one is saying Harvard’s reputation is ruined and that they wouldn’t want their kid to go there lmao
  • bassem gave a detailed account of how israel came to be, this guy embellished heavily and purposely omitted huge parts
