After 20 years, we are back to watch this dude suffering in HD.
  • @ngmajora6986
"He moved with Demonic Speed" Literally just starts walking slightly faster
  • @JotaP1n
Marius, “Tyrael, oh, yes, yes”. Baal, “Ok, this is going to be even funnier”.
  • @DaydreamingCrow
20 years later and Marius's narration in the beginning cinematic still gives me chills. "East. Always into the east."
  • "What i saw then was not meant for mortal eyes..." The dread in his voice in antecipation of Diablo's true form...priceless
  • @JohnMatayas
Marius' voice acting was, and still is, superb.
  • I always thought Tyreal's quest to Marius was insane. What is the man supposed to do? Walk past the three most powerful demon lords into the depths of hell and destroy the stone? Marius doesn't even look like he can lift a sword.

The voice actor (i believed he was an actor)of Marius really dominates and delivered a fantastic performance for us to experience. in those years voice acting in video games weren't that so great and actors during that days were skeptical about accepting a project involving a video game unlike today. it's like he shattered that stigma and rose as one of the best voice actors in gaming history.

The tragedy of Marius is heartbreaking... from the brief respite when he says he's glad its finally over, to his last sobbing grimace when his last words are "what have I done to deserve this?" Wanted more of his story.

When game designers take their passion seriously… it’s not just a game… it’s an immersive experience. Still fresh after 20 years. Timeless. Thank you. Even modern made movies don’t compare due to their tightening regulations.

I miss the camera shaking when Diablo takes a step. Really added a whole larger than life feel to the villain. Like not only was he huge but he weighed as much as a skyscraper.
  • Mephisto's mid-monologue at 16:05 always gives me chills. This is how evil is done, never skipped any of the cinematics in Diablo 2.
  • @nikosantos6821
The hd improvement is just an icing on the cake. Marius' voice is still the cake for me.

The biggest improvement (other than removing the Act IV alpha Diablo) was how fantastic Tal Rasha looks. In the originals it was almost a little difficult to see what was happening in the Act III cutscenes and Tal Rasha looked like Mr. Magoo. The final crystal explosion is obviously a thousand times better than the 3d benchmark graphics they used in the original.

Miss Baal quieting down the echoes of his own voice. That was probably the subtlest, most elegant demonstration of power in all the game cinematics.
  • @XiyuYang
This is exactly how I remembered the original. Nostalgia, such a deceptive mistress lol.
  • Really a testament to how outstanding the sound design was for this game. Original audio syncs perfectly with modern animation.
  • @joshbrigham942
i know ive seen the cinematics a half dozen times or more but watching it like this with upgraded graphics sure kicks ass!
  • Even now. Years later. I still shake my head at Marius in disappointment when he kicks the camel for dying on them. Dick move Marius. Dick move.
  • @simonw7570
The background voices building up when marius wanted to give Baal the stone is just as terrifying as i remember <3 good details = good cinematics
