The Great hornbill or the great Indian hornbill is found in the Indian subcontinent.
Great hornbill eating a fledgling bird.
This rare wild video documentation explains the omnivorous behaviour of the Great Hornbill. The Hornbill extracts a new born chick of another bird species from the nest inside the dead tree and tosses it before swallowing it as part of the opportunistic omnivorous food behaviour. Subscribe now for the upcoming Hornbills of India documentation.

Its impressive size and colour have made it important in many tribal cultures and rituals. The great hornbill is long-lived, living for nearly 50 years in captivity. It is predominantly frugivorous, but is an opportunist and will prey on small mammals, reptiles and birds. Due to habitat loss and hunting in some areas, the great hornbill is evaluated as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (uplisted from near threatened in 2018). More at

moments like these actually make us feel how raw and real natural world is ....really sad for the chick .. Awesome documentary 👏
  • This could be a HillMyna chick. Usually great hornbill hunt on other birds, snakes and reptiles during their nesting season. Hornbills sometimes show cannibalism but not on live chicks.
  • Wonderful and very impressive video. We know that the newborns birds are easy preys to others animals, wild life! These birds are extremely beautiful!
