The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) noted that generally air fryers produce 30-40% more acrylamide than conventional deep fryers. In February 2021, tests by the Hong Kong Consumer Council found acrylamide in french fries cooked in various models of air fryers. In the case of six models, the acrylamide was above EU benchmark levels, with one particular model exceeding the benchmark by up to 13 times.
How do you air fry potatoes more safely? Three basic rules: Avoid cooking at very high heat, soak your potatoes well, and don’t store potatoes in the fridge because keeping them at a low temperature also increases its acrylamide content.

Please also do another test to show the acrylamide content after doing the 3 steps. For now there is no proof that these will actually work without any actual numbers

Thanks for such interesting and educating video CNA. I really don’t know about this until I watched this video!
-
Interesting and worthwhile video. There should be tests to determine if the stated precautions actually work to significantly reduce acrylamide and other carcinogens.

I think the degraded see oils that the starches are cooked in are way more of a concern than the actual Acrylamides.

There's no such thing as healthy French Fries

I am so pleased that I finally bought an air fryer - and especially pleased that I paid attention to the positive reviews of other users, and decided on this one youtube.com/post/UgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00q… . It is just perfect for the two of us, and takes up very little space on my small countertop. I roasted salmon filets for dinner tonight and they were the best ever - slightly crispy on the outside but moist inside. Best of all, no smelly kitchen or difficult clean-up. My only complaint would be the lack of even a few printed recipes to get started. My generation does not find it easy to access the QR code and use the smart phone app. I bought a recipe book instead, which gave me the confidence to experiment.

Such a good episode! Thank u CNA. Convinced that I shall not buy an airfryer
-
This has inspired me to drop French fries completely from my diet, thank you!

Unlike most of us who eat to live, some live to eat. Health is secondary and a chance to take.
-
Just wash before air dry....make it ..
-
moderate your consumption, everybody love french fries, it would be fine.
-
Like eating oil is much better anyway
-
Why would you want to reduce…. Instead of get rid of…make it make sense smh
-
If we eat a proper human diet of meat, meat and more meat, is there any risk of Acrylamide?
-
Got it no more than 180 degrees of cooking 🧑🍳
