In September 2014, the Houthis stormed Yemen’s capital Sanaa, forcing the president to flee and prompting a Saudi-led intervention. Since then, the small rebel group has expanded their control and now rule over 70 percent of Yemen’s population.

But who are the Houthis and how exactly did they take control?

●I am from Yemen and I will tell you something that does not appear in the media. The cause of the destruction of Yemen is the Saudi government, with the support of America. When it allied with some countries, including the UAE, in 2015, they declared war on Yemen under the pretext of eliminating the Houthis. The Houthi group was very small at that time, but Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries were bombing Yemen brutally and mercilessly, killing civilians, besieging Yemen for 8 years, and causing the death of tens of thousands of children and civilians. They were bombing wedding halls, funeral halls and everything. They were no different from Israel. Which caused the anger of the Yemeni people, and we all supported Al-Houthi until he became strong. Saudi Arabia failed in the war and Its goal in the war was to obtain Yemeni oil, and the UAE is now seizing Socotra Island.

You have seen my country, Yemen, but you have not seen the hearts of the Yemenis. They are the purest hearts. Praise be to God, who honors us with religion, honor and pride.🇾🇪.🇵🇸

And Saudi Arabia hasn’t been able to win in 10 years despite killing massive numbers of civilians and leveling basically all infrastructure.
  • I've seen hundreds of body cam videos from the Houthi fighters. They are the most impressive fighters in all of the region. And they don't even have shoes.

Thanks, this put together a lot of puzzles in the news including Saleh's ousting (who I didn't know has since died)and why outsiders such as the US and the Saudis are so concerned about a militant group from the poorest Arab country.

I am sunni muslim and Somali and I wanna say dont make us to Shia or sunni. It doesn't matter if the Houthis are Shia they are our muslim brothers and I fully support them and all the Yemenis not matter shia or sunni. Houthis are far more better than those saudi so called Sunni
  • Ok I just want to say politics aside please remember to make a donation to Yemen, the countries problems aren't going to be solved immediately after the war, so please everyone remember to donate to the needy of Yemen
  • :yt: So who's here to discover how the Houthis were able to suddenly launch Drones and Missiles Northward the other day alongside The Red Sea?
  • @JewelzFinazzo
This video is one sided. The Houthis have good reason to hate Saudi Arabia, America, Israel. I'm a U.S. Veteran and fully understand.

yet when the muslim in palestine needed support, it was the houthis that answear them, not the saudi. its not the palaces, oil empire and the riches of saudi that come to help, but the faith and courage of the people of yemen despite their humble condition themselves. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The people of Yemen have come to you, and they are more soft hearted and gentle hearted people. The capacity for understanding religion is Yemenite and Wisdom is Yemenite." -Sahih al-Bukhari 4390.
