when i clicked on this i thought it meant like the iceberg in the game that was always rumored to be flippable and i was so ready for a 45 minute deep dive into the history of that specific lore. this is really great too though
  • I remember the last day before club penguin shut down, my friend and I were at lunch on our chromebooks trying so hard to get the iceberg to flip before lunch ended. It was such a melancholic feeling when we finally flipped it

I remember that my parents bought me 3 month membership, but it lasted for 2 whole years, so yes, ghost memberships were a thing. Even my best friend at the time bought a membership for a month but lasted for about 6 months. I wish I could go back and explore the amazing events for the first time again, life was easier back then.

As a former Club Penguin player, I did get into the whole pookie thing. At the time (I was 7-9 years old), I obviously just thought of it as playing house. Now looking back, some things that happened during those times were just plain creepy. Quite a strange community in Club Penguin
  • @callmepoki
I loved how the devs played into the rumours and sometimes even made them come true

Every person we met on Club Penguin are now adults with entire functioning lives. Can’t believe it. For years I have thought about all of this, and the fact that you’ve now immortalized it in such an amazing video, is so fuckin sick.

I didn’t know of the term Pookie, but I know of the whole “adoption roleplay” thing. Then again, that shit happens in EVERY MMO, so…

I wish I was able to play the OG club penguin, I was able to play rewritten in 2020, but I lost my account after half a year. I hope that Disney brings the OG game back cause they got rid of rewritten!
  • with the renaissance of chat rooms and metaverses, I hope Club Penguin will return someday. The original art style was so charming yet mysterious. I spent hours in single rooms as a kid just admiring. One of the best worlds built, with so much secrets and lore.

This game was a gem. Especially once they started adding missions, and more “role play” kinda task. I spent HOURS ON this game grinding the black pearl on the game by the iceberg for coins.
  • The highlight of Club Penguin for me were the holiday based parties. Obviously besides friends, but those times added to the holiday vibe. Especially Christmas. Spent so many hours every year from 2006-2011 redecorating my igloo. I remember they added limits and what not, which kind of killed igloo building.

Loved the video. There's a lot of misinformation that is spread about Club Penguin but I felt that this video was very well researched and executed, all of the mysteries being genuine secrets/events that I recall from the game's run. Thank you for putting the time and effort in to share this with us!

I feel a bit ashamed to say, but I was a pookie in Club Penguin, and sometimes even a pet ☠️ cuz I dunno, it was fun to create those histories, I was between 9 and 11 years old and thankfully no stranger did mess with me. This video game me so many bad flashbacks 😂😭 I remember that some people (including me ☠️) would dress up as a mummy or just use a naked white penguin and sit forward to make it look like a egg so we would simulate a penguin born 😭 I feel so ashamed now, but back then I was just stupid 😂

I can attest to the 'ghost membership' bit. I had that happen to me as well. My parents would occasionally buy me gift cards for 1 month gift cards and sometimes for Christmas I would get a 6 month card. I was never allowed to put in their credit card because back then in CP's prime adults didn't really believe in online shopping yet. One year my parents got me a 6 month membership gift card for Christmas and I remember I was extremely happy about it but boy oh boy I only got happier as time went on because when the 6th month came and went... My membership remained and I was ecstatic but I figured it wouldn't be for long... To sum it up I ended up having a membership for the next 3 years on top of the original 6 months I paid for. ~Mitch (A Club Penguin fanatic)

I joined club penguin in 2006 as a 6 year old. Even when I was a teenager I would periodically hop on to see how things were, collect some new items and badges. I remember when the red puffles were first introduced, I remember the old HQ and feeling annoyed when it got destroyed and they made a much fancier HQ (before that it felt kind of secretive and after it didn't feel as special lol). I remember being so excited when the dojo turned from a boring old room into somewhere with purpose and collecting card jitsu packs in real life! When they introduced the thin ice arcade game! And the recycling centre! Also there was once a promotional thing where with every box of innocent smoothies you could unlock an item in club penguin and I drank sooooo many smoothies and collected so many items :D Even the smaller things like seeing more books appear in the library and reading the jokes in the newspaper... I literally grew up on club penguin so I miss it sometimes. I know about the bootlegs but they aren't the same. They're like an old photo album where all my photos have been removed.

Man, watching this video was such a blast from the past. I remember the pookies and the armies (which I had forgotten about entirely until I watched this!) all too well. Club Penguin was an enormous part of my life and it still holds a truly special place in my heart. Glad to see the community that remembers it fondly is still out here.
  • @Tea-gh8cu
31:05 BEFORE DISCORD I SWEAR MOST OF THE ARMIES USED XAT, I remember it pretty well that xat was actually pretty common on vlogs and websites and their iconic notification sounds. I'm glad a real deep iceberg exist it makes me so happy all this being revealed, thank you
  • @TripleC_Arts
I was an og club penguin member and watching this video brought back so many memories. I was always into the secret agency and card jitsu. It’s crazy to think at some point I just stopped playing and before I knew it was gone forever. Thank you for letting me go back and “ play” this game one last time :)
  • @sonic7270
Oh the nostalgia. I miss this game so much, i wish I could revisit it. Great video mate. I do felt you missed the opportunity to talk about the smaller rumors and such that added flair to the club Penguin community, like the rainbow and gold puffles.
  • @LamarINH
I played the OG Club Penguin and CP Island, while I'm not nostalgic I really enjoyed this video along with your Pokémon iceberg (and I don't even play Pokémon). Your videos are always a great viewing experience and the quality and always evident.
