When Mr. Cooper said that people have asked him how he sits stony-faced while people spew crazy, and his answer was that he grew up with Gloria Vanderbilt, I spit coffee across the room. This was made so much funnier for me because as he was saying it, I was thinking that I've had people ask me about my reactionless demeanor during customer service lunacy (while on the job), and my answer was, "You'd have to know my mother." I had to replay this a few times for the sheer release and joy of it.
  • No matter what he just said about his mom, every time he talks about his mother or his son, his voice starts shaking and he gets tearful. That is how much he loves his family, I guess.

This is a testament to Anderson Cooper's strengths. His story here only hints at the personal struggles he suffered, while growing up under his famous mother's care. Here he shared in amusing ways what his mother was like. From other sources we know his childhood was not normal, he was wrought with (still has) personal troubles due to his mother and her side of his family, yet we see Anderson Cooper became a wonderful human being, someone greatly respected, and known to most Americans as well as the world.

Stephen's reaction to what Anderson just said is literally how I reacted as well. Eyes wide open, completely blanked out.

I don't know why but I've always liked Anderson Cooper...... to top it all off he's talking to one of my favorite TV shows hosts...... I need more of Anderson and Stephen together.

Listening to Mr. Cooper talking about his mom, I have the impression she was raised in a very protected and out of reality environment. She needed lots of love and patience from him to help her navigate the realities of the world and luckily he has the financial means required as well.
  • This was a man spilling his guts to his friend, nevermind the audience and the millions watching at home. Anderson's frank and unvarnished story and the emotion with which he told it struck me as very cathartic for him.
  • I absolutely love Anderson Cooper and when he and Steven get together it's serious with a whole lot of laughter. Cooper's son is adorable❤
