This week, we've taken one of our least favorite warhammer 40k space marine chapters - the black templar - and turned them in to something we love!

"Remove the aquilas and other unnecessary..." Yes Inquisitor.. this man right here!
  • Absolutely LOVE the Lukas content. Love his painting style and way of explaining. Please make this a regular thing!!
  • @matzekong8314
If you really want the crusader feeling, than give these guys bucket helms. Nothing screams crusader like the classic bucket helm and tabard combination.
  • @Aynsawf
Lukas could have just picked Dark Angels and saved himself a lot of time lol :D
  • Cool video, but I wouldn’t say you think a black Templar is boring to their face.
  • @ovan2190
This was really cool to see Lucas's process he and Emil have very similar but also very different approaches to painting and I love that we get to see that. I want more Lucas painting videos as well this was fun and it looked like he had fun with it
  • I mean I don't wanna be mean but crusader squad offers exactly this and even a bit extra, for me templars in one of the few chapters with GREAT sculptures, and kits, crusaders, sword brethren and upgrade bits are some of the best things GW offers for marines, no way boring, you can go the extra mile with some conversions and kitbashing but tbh they're great, good pairing tho

I always associated the Black Templars scheme with the Knights Hospitaller with their white Maltese cross on black more than the Knights Templar.

not sure if I'm more jealous of the excellent painting, the brush control, or simply how beautifully tipped that well used brush looks!
  • @jdoggydogg
The Black Templars are perfect just the way they are. Perfect.

I love this new style of video! I love that you guys show which paints to use and how. I'm colorblind so its really useful for me to actually see the name of the paints you're using
  • @scrcrwninja
I appreciate the paint pop up, because sometimes I'm not 100% sure which color you guys say either due to sound quality, Swedish accent, or both. Please continue doing it.
  • If you just put fabric at the front it isn’t a tabard, it is an apron! Nice to see they are doing some cooking.

Amazing video Lucas! Loved the quick down and dirty tutorial. You did a really good job keeping it condensed while not making it feel rushed. (Especially enjoyed seeing your approach to black armor lol I struggle a bit there 😂)
  • @esaedvik
It's funny how different the process is from any other tutorial I've seen (literally everyone dry-brushes on the black primer for one), but results really do speak for themselves. Probably not the fastest way to paint, but gorgeous nonetheless!

INSANE paint job! question though: why not use dark angels as a base for the minis since they already have tabards and candles? wouldn't that save you time from the green stuff sculpting?
  • Seems like most of the price for those GSW candles was for the block of resin they were on than the amount in the actual candles.
  • @Cromgor
Really appreciated the thoroughness of the video, it was really good getting a chance to see Lukas explain his methods in detail. Would love to see more like this!
  • @Tommiart
So you've made a Dark Angel 😂 not complaining: love my secretive boys and will definitely take on board some of those painting tips! Thank you ❤
