Milly’s Dad has never really taken to Milly’s cat Marmalade. But things deteriorate when Milly gives her dad a bird bath. Marmalade starts to stalk the birds and things go from bad to worse and looks like Marmalade and the visiting birds can never live in harmony. It’s easy to see which one Milly’s Dad would rather keep! Milly and Molly are best friends of ethnically diverse backgrounds who live in a small unnamed town in the countryside. Each day the girls and all their friends experience new adventures that teach them valuable life-lessons. Their stories deal with the kinds of questions and trials that children face every day–and offer understanding in such matters as honesty, respect for others, difference, tenacity, exercise, cooperation, respect for nature, bullying, stranger danger, forgiveness, trustworthiness, responsibility, loyalty, loss, and grief–and many other areas that are challenging to young children.
