For our third video we're going to take an in-depth look at Vincent Valentine and the wider impact he had on the lore of Final Fantasy 7.

After appearing as an optional character in Final Fantasy 7, who needed to be unlocked by beating Lost Number, Vincent went on to appear in Advent Children and Before Crisis, before starring as the protagonist in Dirge of Cerberus.

It means that his story is pretty expansive, as it ranges from his time in The Turks, providing security for the Jenova Project (Project Sephiroth), his relationship with Lucrecia Crescent, his ongoing feud with Hojo, defeating Sephiroth and then squaring off against The Tsviets before beating Omega Weapon!

We hope you enjoy, and be sure to let us know which character you'd like us to focus on next!

  • We've been feeling a lot of love for Vincent and as he's just been released in Opera Omnia publishing this now feels rather apt! We hope you guys enjoy! Let us know who you'd like us to tackle next :) ~Darryl/Lauren
  • You know officially the main villain of FF VII is Sephiroth, but IMO the real villain is Dr. Hojo...

The fact that Cloud and Vincent both had really rough times in their lives before they meet, is probably why they get along so well compared to others.
  • They better give us more Vincent than ever before in part 2 of the FF7 Remake

As a kid I never realized how metal yet anime Vincent's story got.

Vincent : asks about his father Lucrecia : "that's none of your business" k den
  • Imagine a psycho stealing your girl, then ruin your body, life, AND afterlife---turning you into a monster till the ends of time. 20 decades later, and I'm still pissed she chose Hojo over Vincent.

I like Vincent because he remained as a human in heart even those this body has now turned into a monster.

I really don't know why everyone hates Dirge of Cerberus so much. I played the shit out of this game in my youth and loved the story as much as the gameplay. This is the only game that's still on my list I want to see a remaster of. Then all of my relevant PS2 games have been ported

Vincent's character is what Cloud always wanted to be but couldn't. There's even a piece of dialogue in the original FF7, if i remember correctly, that has Cloud admiring Vincent's way of being "cool" overall.
  • Vincent is similar to soldier returning from the war trying to fit in society and trying to get over the pain that they had to endure
  • Not alot of people relize just how fucking hard Vincent was to unlock, with most people not even trying to do so. It involves cryptic puzzles of many kinds includeing number puzzles and music puzzles. In the days before the internet it was like "good luck doing this" yet hes one of the most famous..very likely due to the fact that he was so hard to unlock.

I'm so hoping the Remake fleshes out Vincent's story and his relationship with Hojo. For an optional character, he ended up having an interesting connection to Sephiroth and the greater story. - Plus Hojo kinda suffers for taking a back seat to Sephiroth all the time even though he's basically the reason everything happens in the story (Sephiroth's brith, experimenting on Cloud, etc). Having a character who's more interested in taking that psycho out once and for all and treats defeating Sephiroth as a means of redemption really sets Vincent apart from the rest of the group.
  • @DeepbloodFang
I hope they give him a much more key role in the remake, his actual connection to the big baddies of FF7 is really big.

Vincent: I need to control this chaos inside me Vincent: *is losing battle Chaos: it's free real estate
