One of the craziest EuroLeague fights created a similar buzz that the NBA’s Malice At The Palace did back in 2004. A fight that ended with suspensions of Guerschon Yabusele, Kevin Punter, Gabriel Deck, Mathias Lessort & left Dante Exum injured. Huge drama before and after the brawl made the 2023 Playoff series between Real Madrid & Partizan one of the most exciting ever. All of it is broken down in this video!

Dante exums father Cecil Exum passed away shortly after this event. RIP CECIL EXUM great player in his day

  • Everything went downhill after that incident in game 2. It's a shame we couldn't finish what we started, we looked so good in those first two games. Of course, you have to commend Real players for not giving up, and especially for staying locked in in the second half of game 5. Still, you can't help but wonder what would've happened if there were no suspensions, and I definitely think justice didn't prevail in the end in this series. However, as Partizan fans, we have to be proud of what our guys accomplished this season, after not playing in the Euroleague for 8 years, and we're hoping for a better run and a bit more luck next season.

Although difficult to exempt responsibility from a team who lost a 10+ pt lead in 2 occasions, it's inevitable to not elect Sergio Llull the MVP of the series. With Euroleague's help, he saved Real Madrid in game 2. It's insulting that Real Madrid got benefited after starting a riot, including the ridiculous penalty for what Yabusele did.
  • @reignmans
its really easy to dissect. Llull did what they've done in the past vs Olympiakos and spanoulis. a hard foul to create something out of nothing. Punter took the bait, exum came running from behind initially wanting to punch Llull behind the head, last moment just palmed him behind the head, then deck follows up by grabbing exum, exum ducks and gives what seems like a gut punch, yabusele notices, grabs exum and body slams him to oblivion, meanwhile mousa is getting punched by almost everyone (including an accidental hit by hezonja), punter gives a 1-2 combo to mousa (neck then face), lesort is running like a running back from the other side of the court to do an RKO to Mousa.
  • I wanted Partisan to win. But this is very biased. First Llul made an unsportsmanlike faul. Same type of fauls are always done in games. No big deal, maximum can get ejected for that game. Apart from yabusele (should get more, not a year calm down haha) the other suspensions were spot on.
  • Apart from the Spanish Basketball School, there is also the Spanish Mindgame School. They're teaching mind games for dacades now, they are pros. Llul knew what he was doing and what could come out of this chaos. I don't blame them, they got what they wanted. Thing is, next year there might be other teams who might mimic these kind of behavior. And Euroleague just let it roll with ridiculous sanctions.

As a neutral fan here, my point of view is that Punter and whole Partizan organisation should have been aware of these Spanish mind games. What I want to say is that, you have +15 in last minut of the match in Madrid, potentially 2:0 for you and as PROFESSIONAL player and CAPTAIN you need to be calm and ready for these unsportsmanlike strategies from the Spaniards. I don’t want to blame just Punter here of course, but for me I think that he had to act in more mature and calmer way than this, especially because I also think that if Partizan was on full roster they could easily smash Real with 3:0.
  • @iamchaunceman
Dante Exum is a pro. Glad he is back in the NBA. Madrid should have asterisk next to that series win. That was a terrible outcome for Partizan, they deserved to win as the better team.
  • Great analysis. Too bad I won't be visiting Lithuania this year, but hey, some other time...
  • What a great video u made. I really hope f4 format ends and the euroleague has play off series till the end. Those series make history
  • If this happens at an Olympiakos Panathinaikos derby, the European Basketball will End at this Day .....
  • @urkecio1061
The suspensions were ridiculous. Lull not getting a suspension was horrific and made 0 sense. But that's the Real Madrid - Euroleague mafia working there. At least 1 or 2 more Madrid players should have got a game ban. Partizan would have defeated them but that wouldn't slide well with the Kings club so they played the cards in their favor. Unlucky for Partizan
  • Great video!!! Just to put a couple of things into perspective, a) Sergio Llull"s involvement is just the harsh foul on Punter and the mainly verbal fight with him afterwards. If none of the rest happened his punishment would have been an unsportsmanlike foul and maybe a technical at most, so I do not understand why there was so much talk about him not being suspended. Having said that though his play is straight out of Kevin McGee"s playbook in the semifinal in Munich in 1989 where he provoked Giannakis and managed to turn the lost semifinal for Maccabi. Llull took it even further and managed to turn a whole series and in my eyes he is the main reason Real is through, or reversely Punter is the main reason Partizan is out as if he had kept his calm there is no way Partizan would have not swept them in Belgrade. The only reason for him being suspended is his record or rather the record of the Spanish players of his generation, that were great players but at the same time sore losers, provocateurs, arrogant and always in cohorts with the system. b) Way more than Llull I do not understand why Musa , Hezonja and Exum were not suspended. Musa is involved in just about every punch thrown, and is no excuse that he is the recipient while he misses his, Hezonja is one of the first to get involved and it can not be an excuse that his main punch ended on no other than Musa, and Exum is the real instigator of the fight as until his involvement the whole thing would have ended with fouls and technicals and it can not be an excuse his near death experience from Jabusele. c) There is no comparison with the malice at the Palace for many reasons. The main is that in Detroit the main issue were the fights between players and the fans, that was why the Indiana players received such harsh punishments and the Pistons players just a fraction of those. The second was that it was an early regular season game and the punishments did not compromise the validity of the competition. In this case it was a decisive playoff game and Euroleague needed to think about the whole competition, as harsher and more punishments would have just resulted to rigging the competition in favor of their favorite team Barcelona giving them a wild card to the final. Of course they ended up favoring their other favorite team Madrid, but you can not have everything in life and if there is one thing for certain in European Basketball is that some Spanish team is going to benefit from matters not related to the game...
  • What exactly did Llull do to deserve a suspension for next game ? Someone can explain to me ? I only see a hard foul.
  • @m3gan783
Bro never compare this candy ass scuffle to "malice in the palace" smh..
