In the first 30 seconds, Jacob begged the cops to please not tell his mother that he was eating. NOT that he was eating out of the garbage. Just eating AT ALL. WOW
  • I’m just glad this boy realized that he was being used by his mother and that his older brother was there for him. His mother deserved to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

All children deserve to be raised in a happy and loving home, but not all adults out there deserve to be parents.
  • the worst part is that poor adam probably tried to soothe and rationalize his action by telling himself that even if he couldn't be in heaven with jacob, jacob was in heaven with daniel and daniel would take care of him. but then daniel turns out to be alive and now he realizes that jacob died for nothing

7:55 “She lied about you, she lied about everything” The crushing moment of realization is devastating to watch

The moment that boy begged them to not tell his mother that he was eating, not specifically eating out of the garbage, but just eating food in general reminded me of A Child Called It, a book written recounting the authors abuse at the hands of his mother. She’d refuse to feed him to the point he’d sneak into cafeteria kitchen just to eat handfuls of frozen tater tot’s and made him eat his own vomit when she found out he’d had been eating. With all that in mind I immediately knew that the mother was the villian of the episode

This was heartbreaking, the guy who played the older brother was so good!

Why isn’t that social worker not getting any consequences for the death of Jacob.

This mother is a disillusioned monster. She knew enticing her older son to shoot his brother was wrong and did everything to ensure the blame would be pinned on him. I doubt her behavior was as much about protection it was about control. She had to control everything about those kids... what they did, what they said, even what they thought. A true narcissist.
  • if i see a little boy eating from the garbage there is no way in HELL im letting the kid go home, like actually that little boy would still be alive if he was put in a safer home
  • @trickster3696
Oh yeah kid has a great home life, he just felt like eating out of someone's garbage.

Wow a parent who actually knows the law and doesn't talk to the police. Now if only she had focused as much on parenting as she had Constitutional law. 😂
  • This episode was kind of ahead of its time in how it portrayed borderline mothers at their worst. They don’t have to put hands on you to make you fearful, they’re skilled in manipulation and they can go from love-bombing you one second to declaring you their sworn enemy the next if you upset them.

I love the subtle details of the acting from the mother, when she cried in front of the detectives she always kept looking at them in between her sobs as if she’s checking to make sure they’re watching her while she’s crying her crocodile tears. It’s details like those that really expose the inner workings of the deranged people that do stuff like this to their own family and take any measures possible to avoid the consequences.

That is sad the kid called stabler too couldn’t get saved in time
  • That social worker is terrible at his job. He seems more focused on the rights of the mother and the law rather than the emotion, physical and overall wellbeing of the child

I grew up with mother with Borderlinr, like this kid. This episode gave me such pain cause at one point I was that older kid. My sister is like the oldest brother, got out when she could and learned to forgive/not blame me for what happened, and has her own great life. My youngest sister is almost 18 now so she has a chance to get out soon, just not sure if she will. I won’t lie…at one point in my life, if my mother told me we would be better off dead, I may have done what that kid did. And that’s the terrifying thing.
  • @sayadiva123
Oh I remember this episode. This mom was a nut. She really thought her way was a normal way to raise her kids. Ended up losing both kids. I know a mom who homeschooled her kids all the way up till they went to high school. Didn’t do anything this mother did.
  • @Solararisa
The little boy told them NOT to tell his mother he was eating and yet the first thing they do is TELL the mother that he was eating... C'mon. No wonder that child didn't trust them anymore.
