Any newcomers don't be discouraged. This is also my first Souls game and it definitely gets easier the more you play and explore and remember if you can't beat the boss you're trying to beat you can always leave and level up then go back to fight to make it easier!
-
I can’t thank you enough, this is my first souls game ever and it’s been SUPER overwhelming trying to grasp everything. I’ve watch many videos but none really addressed being a total noob like myself. This video was perfect, can’t wait for the combat one!
-
Remember when physical games came with manuals?
-
elden ring is my first fromsoft game and this helped me a lot. I am hoping to see the battle mechanics video soon! :D thks!
-
This is, by far, the most useful Elden Ring content I've seen. Vast majority of coverage seems to be from the perspective of people who are experts at these kind of games and have pumped hundreds of hours into them. Thanks for doing this for people like me who have never played one!
-
as a Souls veteran, thanks for this. encouraging people to get into these and keep pushing means a lot Praise The Sun ☀️
-
Finally, someone to hold my hand and just figure out the basics so I can enjoy the game a whole lot more. Thank you so much, I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Please do a tutorial on the mechanics of upgrading please! I am afraid to upgrade anything for fear of upgrading something only to not be able to upgrade something better and wasting mats. Thanks again for your time!

Quick tip for getting staffs, bows, other weapons early on. As soon as you go to the roundtable the first time you can find a statue in the back area of the left hand hallway (not the one with the blacksmith) that sells ALL the starter weapons for every other class you didnt choose (bows, staffs, seals, axes, daggers, shields, etc.). It also sells some armor and other minor items. Hugely beneficial especially for finding a bow very early. Also, the Golden runes you pick up (i.e. the ones you find on the ground in skulls, dropped by enemies, or laying throughout the world) these are not added to your rune count UNTIL you use them BUT wait until you are at a site of grace or merchant to use them when youre in need of some extra runes to purchase items or reach the amount needed for next level up. Try not to use them all if you dont need to. They can be a great emergency stash if you die before recollecting your dropped runes. (Edit: Staffs not available at twins but all other weapons def are)

One thing I noticed was that while on the map, you can press a button (L1 on PS) to show areas where summoning (multiplayer status) is possible. Seems to work for any unfogged part of the map even without a map fragment, and it shows them in areas (like a cave) you haven't discovered yet; basically pointing out there is something there worth exploring.
-
Just a small note on meeting Melina for the first time. It has to be 3 overland Sites of Grace; the ones in caves don't count.
-
Very nice video. If this helps people as well. You have a quick pouch you can use by holding down triangle and then pressing one of the D buttons. You can find it to the top right after pressing the start button. I find it usefull for summons and buffs. Hope it helps 👍

Honestly a great guide. I found it late so I found this all out the hard way, but man this is so well done. I never comment, but it was really warranted here. The only thing I would add is some mention of how to use the pouch, since that can be a really handy tool to access commonly-used items.

10 hours in and I’m really enjoying it. It does make me feel lost sometimes, but as long as you travel the world and find Sites of grace, and fighting any boss or mini bosses you see in any order you want, then I think you’re doing ok.

Me, a super newbie to souls games, have almost reached lvl 40 but most of the points you are talking about here, are absolutely new (and helpful!!) - thank you so much for this video!
-
This helped way more than you know. Yes more please. 60 hours into the game...I didn't know how to summon the wolves, that I was supposed to get my sword leveled up past +3, and your advice helped me out even more. This is my first game like this.
-
This video is so detailed! This must have taken ages. Thank you for working so hard to make things easier for us.
-
THANK YOU!!!!!! This is my first souls game, and I've loved it so far...but there is a very steep learning curve! Some stuff I knew, but most I didn't...can't wait to play again tonight and use the information you gave in the video!!
-
Thanks, Aoife! Brilliantly explained and super detailed without feeling (too) overwhelming! I actually feel like I may actually be able to tackle my first FromSoft game armed with this. Combat vid would be AWESOME too!
-
This was super handy! I've really enjoyed the opening parts of the game but the stats and equipment systems can be a little inscrutable and this helps really break it down (and not end up worrying if I've 'wasted' a level up point)

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!! This is exactly what I needed to be able to jump into this awesome experience. Thank you for making it so clear and easy to digest. Now it feels far less overwhelming and more accessible. 👍🏻
