I have this projector and its super awesome, CEC works flawless and it remembers the last input that was selected. As for projected light beyond the borders of his screen, well, I can say is that he doesn't know how to configure the unit, little bit of movement and problem is fixed!
  • I would say turn those lights off and then see the true black levels. Also you can just add velvet around the screen, like you said the over splash is an issue with all the UST's. I'm glad you pointed those out, these are all issues most people don't understand or don't know exists. Thanks!
  • Maybe adding soft LED lights surrounding the screen will get rid of the screen shadow.

A good universal remote solution can alleviate a lot of these issues, with macros/scenes, instead of having the units turn each other on and off with CEC. Granted, that's another investment, and there aren't a lot of great ones out there now that Logitech have killed off Harmony. Can still get some Harmony units, though, and there's a new kid, YIO Remote Two, in the works. This Epson is basically the only UST with a really short throw, so it's the only really easily installed UST. The others require much more distance to the wall, and the screen has to move up a lot, which is bad. I'm curious as to what screen that is, is it an Epson ambient light rejecting one or just a white one? I would hope ALR, to get remotely the max performance this can offer.
  • Ah the nasty over splash/halo around the screen. One of the annoying discoveries I made after I got my ust projector :(. Very few reviewers mention it. Thanks to point this out! I was hoping the epson, which uses 3-lcd instead of dlp, does not have this issue. My projector broke down recently and I am looking for a replacement. I will get a ust again since I use it a lot during the day, plus I already have the screen... Looking at the epson for its very good input lag and very short throw ratio. One thing I did to reduce the halo around the screen is to place the projector slightly closer so that the displayed image is slightly smaller than the screen. Try this and see if the halo disappear

Thanks for the video! These kinda videos are the realest and can really show you the minor flaws/problems, that a reviewer might miss because you actually use it in your everyday life. Top comment says first world problems, but if you're paying first world money you bet I want it to be good in every way. Read your comment you got a LS12000 Instead? How's your experience with that one compared to this?

Most honest review I have seen in a long time.... I have heard of the halo but don't see it much... Makes me wonder if people are actually cropping the videos they upload just to make this thing look like it's perfect
  • Hello how did you install netflix? We have epson laser projector Ls300
  • @Leo-tf7gu
Most UST projectors / TVs / AVRs have minor issues here and there. Specially around HDMI CEC, remote controls, etc. They are not perfect. My VAVA projected had CEC issues just like the Epson. I have do disable CEC on some devices so it doesn't loop.

Is the AWOL Vision 3500 pro better…but its $5.5k
  • @krohuynh7660
I see your screen has a reflective shine in it that is what causing the halo. I have this projector and I don’t have the same problem.
  • @Beamber
Where did you get that AV furniture from
  • @Leo-tf7gu
You need to put at least 1ft space between the wall and your Klipsch speakers.
  • @willd7157
Hello, Where did you get the media stand from?
  • @khalvan4304
What are you going to get after you return this one?
  • @kwik01
I like the picture on my LS800, but the Android TV and stupid remote are definately issues. My sound bar stopped working in the ARC port (used to turn on if I manually selected the source, but now wont even do that). I do see the light splash sometimes, but doesnt really bother me. My Apple TV cant learn the Epson power-on IR codes for some reason. Due to some recent firmware bug (not like this when I bought it) the stupid projector will turn itself on randomly if you use the sleep mode instead of true power off. So while I enjoy the picture it puts out, yes, this thing has issues. I want one without the Android TV and without the speakers. Would be perfect then. Overall I cannot recommend this and I am probably going to sell this and get an 80" TV or some other LST.
  • @benjiebarker
This is the only ultra short orojector that plays games with the least lag

The biggest concern I see here is the keystoneing the rectangle picture is not linear at all. That should be addressed initially. By moving the projector back a few inches. All these other complaints are annoyances.
