Hiking Coyote Mountain - Anza Borrego State Park-Desert Bighorn Sheep

Published 2022-03-27
In this video I hiked Coyote Mountain in Anza Borrego State Park. The wind was unrelenting this day and much of the audio was unusable. 45+mph winds which helped with keeping me cool on the very steep ascent. I saw 5 bighorn sheep who were not bothered by the sight of me or the wind. Views from the 3,192ft peak are really outstanding. To the east is Villager, Rabbit, Dawn’s and Toro. Borrego Springs is easily visible to the south west. It was a great albeit tough short hike.

5.5m round trip. 2,600ft gain.

  • Great job! Amazing how different the weather was there compared to my summit. The big horn sheep were awesome! I was looking for some up there and didn’t get lucky enough to see any. So jealous!

I really enjoyed climbing this one. Like a mini villager, for sure. Seeing big horn sheep is always a treat. I’ve only seen them once in AB, in all my time out there. I always bring my trekking poles for the way down, having eaten it my share of times. Cheers!

Awesome video man. I’ve been exploring ABDSP since age 23. I’m 73 now and still at it! Keep up the good work man.🙂
