LYRICS

Grandma, welcome home
You have been gone far, far too long
Is this a dream, are you really back?

Let me help you out of the chair
Grandma
Let me touch you, let me feel

Grandma, take a look
What do you think of the house and the silvery moon?
We are going to repaint the front door soon

Let me help you out of the chair
Grandma
Let me touch you, let me feel

Wait till you see your room up in the attic
Prepared just like you said, without a bed
You will find your rocking chair and the tea pot that Missy found

Let me help you out of the chair
Grandma
There is someone waiting for you, now come along

Missy Mother, they are dying to meet you
How strange, she's spoken no word
I wonder grandma, are you all right?

Grandma' what was it like to be on that holiday site
Oh, it could have been worse but with them by my side
In the twilight they sang all the old lullabies
Grandma, who are they?
Never mind you dirty little brat

Let us go inside
Something's on their mind
They are still alive
Can you feel their eyes?

Can you feel their eyes?
Now that you are stuck with me
You better be my friend

When we used to visit my Grandma (RIP đŸ˜„), my younger brother and I would have a competition to see who could get the most lines from this song into casual conversation with her đŸ€Ł

The best song to ever have the word “Grandma” in the chorus.

My Grandmother loves this song. She's been dead for 30 years and still listens to it at least 3 times a day. She's a big fan of King, still.
  • King Diamonds voice to me is like coffee: the first few times I tried it, I absolutely hated it but now I can’t live without it!
  • Only King can scream "GRANDMAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" at the top of his lungs and sound badass.

This song is constantly playing in my head at the nursing home I work at

My wife and I are going to be 1st time grandparents soon. I'm going to sing this song to her when she gets home from work....every......day.....forever.

Andys solo is so insane. Out of this world guitar player.

easily the most brutal song about a senior citizen in a chair ever

I love how the rest of the band looks like normal heavy metal musicians and then you have King Diamond doing his thing.

One of the most iconic drum fills at the start of a song ever đŸ”„

Not too many people can say their Grandma was in a King Diamond Video

Wanting to help Grandma out of the chair is enough proof for me that King is the consummate gentleman. Thank the dark lord that southern hospitality is still alive and kickin.

I realize that many people are turned off by King Diamond's high falsetto/counter-tenor voice. The unique aspect, to me, about King Diamond is the lyrics and overall direction and story telling of their/his albums. Few bands make "concept" albums. Their albums actually tell a story, and that intrigues me. I hear so much inflection and emotion in his voice. A willingness to raise issues like child abuse in his albums, and the flirting with the occult, it speaks of a deeper message behind the music. And the band.... Andy and Mikkey (KD after Mikkey is also great)..... incredible......Their albums are some of my favorite to listen to in one sitting. Real works of art.
