Thomas The Invisible Tank Engine Empty Pegs Impossible Toy Hunting

Thomas The Tank toys are getting more difficult to buy in store. During 2016 I have witnessed the erosion of Thomas toy stocks to the point of empty shelves and empty pegs for weeks / months on end. I witnessed this across multiple retailers in the city where I live. The most difficult Thomas toys to find are the Thomas Wooden Railway toys. I did find out that Mattel have set up a direct to consumer web site to buy the Thomas wooden toys. I also found out that Toys R Us is the place to find good Thomas toy supplies Vs other retailers. Considering now that Chuggington is no longer in retailers where I live it seems Thomas The Tank has really relaxed in store, almost to the point of being near impossible to find. 2015 / 2016 has seen the explosion of Thomas MINIS surprise toys. These hyper popular toys can also be near impossible to find if your searching for complete sets of toys. One constant I hear is how my viewers never see all 4 waves of the Thomas MINIS stocks in shops where they live. I can certainly understand this complaint, because I see it all the time myself. I hope Mattel in the USA see this video and understand empty pegs for months on end earn no income for the Thomas brand. If sinking profits are a problem, maybe making sure the toys are stocked all year round might help. I'm sure my Thomas loving audience will have plenty to say on what they see in store from all around the world.

OMG the comments are amazing. Mattel USA take a look and see this Thomas supply problem is worldwide. Also note how many people say they can't find Thomas Wooden Railway. Maybe that idea of selling direct to consumer is a mystery to most.

Hi am 17 years and live in the uk because of you I was about to say I love Thomas and friends. I would love to thank you so much for help be who I am

In America where I live, it is extraordinarily rare that the store I go to is out of Thomas stuff, as a kid, I classified the stores aI went to by the way they sold stuff. Target sold Take-along, Walmart sold Tomy and ToysRus sold Wooden. Now Target and Walmart sell both Trackmaster and Take'N'Play and ToysRUs sells all three kinds. Also, some toys you showed such as the Thomas and the Jet engine set, I haven't seen once in America, I wonder why not.
  • I am an avid collector of Thomas Wooden Railway and I am finder it harder and harder to find wooden railway. Ever since Mattel took over the wooden railway range the quality and quantity has gone down but the price has gone up, way UP. What also annoys me is that in Australia not all the wooden railway toys are released here. In the wooden railway community, we call these items, American Exclusives because they're only released in America because according to Mattel, "The market is bigger in America". Even when I emailed Mattel to ask about this, they just gave us a blank answer and gave us free wooden railway toys, which is nice but technically they didn't answer our question. In conclusion, Mattel has made a dogs breakfast out of the Thomas Wooden Range.

Here in toys R us North Carolina, some Trackmaster (Gordon, Toby, Philip, and Thomas are the peg warmers) we have a lot of TWR, in take n play The only thing there is the train maker set, A lot of adventures, and barely any minis. In target, we have a lot of take n play and adventures, and a plethora of minis, not much trackmaster, and no TWR.
  • I live in the USA and when I went to Toys R US I found a lot of Thomas Wooden, Take N Play, Trackmaster and lots of Chuggington.
  • I have to say the UK is pretty good for Thomas merchandise. The supermarkets tend to have a set range of characters that are always available, with a wider range of Take 'n' Play than Trackmaster 2. The toy shops always seem well-stocked as well, with far more character available. The wooden railway items are definitely harder to find, suggesting they are probably lower in demand.

3:35 In America, the price for a Thomas trackmaster engine with one wagon has been $11 for about 7 years now! I've seen lots of single engines for $5 at a "discounted everything" store! Once back in 2008, when Walmart was re-arranging things around this time of year, It's entire Thomas and friends section was gone!

I live in the UK, and the toy store I have visited for many years now, has shrunken in it's variety of Thomas stock. I clearly remember a few years ago Wooden Railway, TrackMaster and Take-n-Play used to all thrive on the pegs and for the longest time an old Take Along set, however lately it seems to mostly be Take-n-Play now with significantly less TrackMaster Revolution and the occasional box of minis. I can't quite seem to grasp why this is, but strangely here in the UK we don't tend to get quite as much merchandise as the US does, and it's often weeks or even months before we finally get some of the new toys. I find it very strange that about a year ago the Wooden Railway has been cut from circulation where I live. I can't speak for anybody else here in the UK, as I'm only describing what happened to my local toy store.

Power Rangers for the fast few seasons has used the collectables to connect to an app. They only recently nailed it, with the app itself being very robust and cool, and the toys being a nice add on.
  • My local target has completely stopped selling Wooden Railway products, and very little Trackmaster. They only sell the 2 cheaper types of Thomas toys which are TNP and Minis. They never seem to have any other merchandise than that, and they never have anything more than 40 USD or so, so no playsets. My Walmart is the same, except they have a tiny selection of Trackmaster but no unique charecters, basically only Thomas James and Percy.

Funny how Mattel also overlook Hot Wheels and Barbie, and their stock seems to be ever present. MINIS are great, however I feel there is a pattern to when they are released. Take-n-Play is 'apparently' being replaced in 2017 with die-cast metal characters who have plastic coupling, maybe why Mattel is not supplying full stocks. And honestly, TM2 has become a fail range. But hope Mattel revitalise their stocks of the popular T&F toys worldwide and properly next year.

Heh... lucky you... Here i am reporting from Chile, and here there is just like 3 new Take n plays , and some 6-pack minis. That's it.
  • Before I forget, My dad once went to Walmart to help me stidy Thomas Stock. And they had a lot of Take n Play Percys from 5 years ago!
  • Also, Can you review some of the new Thomas 2017 minis? Not collect all the bags but do certain Unboxing videos from the 7 packs and 3 packs. There is a new Minis Duck, Bertie, Rosie, Annie, Clarabel and Belle.
  • @Mr.Shiiba
Things have changed and now Thomas isn't the same anymore! 😕🚂
  • When I see your videos I consider you lucky. The trackmaster is all the same engines but take n play is like disappearing. I think this Because in 2017 the round magnets will become a different coupling system(like collectible railway). I really hope it's that reason. I remember take along was so well stocked and then in 2010 when it became take n play the characters started to become the same ones over and over agian. When I see a new character I grab it immediately. I hope that the new take n play Thomas Railway Adventures will be well stocked. Certain engines such as take n play ; Toad, Gold Thomas, Timothy, Gator, Millie, Racing Thomas and more..... I agree 2016 was the hardest year. I only bought Ryan and The Cargo Crew pack. I got Donald Douglas Raul and Streamlined Thomas online.
