I remember using this in my D&D campaign, The paladin has found a holy relic of her goddess in a crypt while they were there. and the party had accidentally released a Druid-lich from his prison upon a floating city. A horde of plant infested zombies and skeletons, shambling mounds and giant tendrils of corrupted plant life trying to kill them and rip up the floating isle, the airship flew in, cannons blazing, and they managed to narrowly escape. After they had escaped, the paladin used her newly gained artifact (a magical torch) to pray to her goddess, who Intervened, her image appearing in the flame of the torch, she sang this song and shepherd the lost souls left on the island to the hereafter. I remember putting this on and everyone got deathly quiet and that was probably my fav DM experience.

This is beautiful, and that's a rock fact

I've always wondered if this song sounded just as well with a female singer. This video is proof that it does.

Come wayward Souls, Who wander through the darkness, There is a light for the lost and the meek. Sorrow and fear, Are easily forgotten, When you submit to the soil of the earth. Grow, tiny seed, you are called to the trees. Rise, 'til your leaves fill the sky, until your sighs fill the air in the night. Lift your mighty limbs, and give praise to the fire.

This far surpassed my expectation, Your voice was perfect for this song. Thank you for doing this!
  • "Woodsman, I knew you would come. I have something for you." "What have you done!?" "Why, I've given you another edelwood." "NO!" "He will burn nicely in the lantern." "No! I won't do this!" "You've been grinding up lost souls for years!" "I didn't know! I didn't know this was where the edelwood trees came from!" "And would it have mattered? Would you have just let your daughter's spirit burn out forever? Feed the lantern..." "No...." "I suppose after all these years you just don't care for her anymo-" "HOLD YOUR TONGUE, OR I'LL REMOVE IT FROM YOUR MOUTH! You do not speak of my daughter. She would not wish this. to Greg Let's get you free.." "I only wish to help you, Woodsman! You need oil, or else your daughter will-" "I TOLD YOU TO HOLD YOUR TONGUE!"

After some thought on the matter I think this might be slightly better or differently good to the original no don't get me wrong that one is still awesome but I feel this one is more claiming more like a lullaby for the departed rather than the bombastic original
  • @HaBeFaStro
As my ears bare witness to the vocal majesty of your haunting mastery... My eyes weep so. Like the willows who hath been serenaded by the night rain and the morning dew. Applause.... Applause...... Applause.........

If there ever was a new Beast in the Unknown or whatever, they should be voiced by you
  • @jordangarner87
If the beast was a temptress in the owwds i can see this being her voice
  • I really prefer this song in the octave you sing it in. Excellent work and you have a great, strong voice. Would love to hear more OTGW. Also would like to hear you sing some more jazzy material.
  • "I didn't know... I didn't know this is where the Edelwoods came from" "Would it have mattered"

Incredible! What a voice! And this is quite possibly my favorite Over the Garden Wall song, but I personally sing Into the Unknown to my daughter as a lullaby.
