took me a bit to getting around to writing this, but heres my complete takeaway, thoughts, first impressions, and comments on this ep and in accordance the finishing of season 1 from the very beginning with the change of scene with each alliance discussing things, it was very clear of a few things: the COO had impressionable schisms within their own alliance, which would inevitable lead them to their fate; the internationale - while not perfectly in tact - kept holding out hope no matter what. one might watch this finale and think that the world war itself was the cornerstone & the focus of the entire thing, but they'd be wrong. you geniously used the war as a midpoint for connecting everything that had been placed in multiple plotlines, you used it as a way to further the characters personal backstories & motives while keeping the audience inching further in their seat waiting to see the end of it all. the undeniable meaning and theme this season was that within the chaos, there can be resilence, but with that can come wicked intentions that hide behind the confusion and within the loose strings. everything could be orchestrated from deep within the layers of the story and it could live untouched and unknown until out of nowhere the world becomes a flaming ember running from the forest fire that sparked from seemingly everywhere and nowhere. one of my favourite scenes in this episode was belarus's speech; the raw emotion that ran through what they said was a testament to the best regima has to offer - genuine emotion in the face of chaos and deception. in finishing, this series can be compared to other greats of the genre (notably koreans) in the sense that it's deep, intriguing, and has many layers that make for loads of rewatch value, but i think the thing that makes it so unique is the deviations from a normal afow with a "big bad"; mirage is not like any other mapping character, they are uniquely mysterious on the surface but have underlying intentions and emotions that you only see if you look through a certain coordinate of the lens. additionally, the entire visions plotline is peak fiction - combining mystery with emotion and sacrifice. id say that this is one of the best season finales ive watched in a hot second with no quaverance in my voice. cant wait for season 2, you outdid yourself but the story has undoubtedly only begun - lia
