"Music of rebellion makes you wanna rage; but it's made by millionaires who are nearly twice your age." I wish I could craft a lyrical burn HALF as good as this.

This song is becoming strangely addicting more and more
  • Love this song, ironic how sad it is yet it's always so uplifting everytime you listen to it

There's a progression in how most musicians grow, they start learning riffs that are pleasing to the ear, learn about song structure, how to put together a good tune, and how to market that music and build a career. Then they start to grow, and most simply don't grow all that much, but they grow enough to have a career and a couple or three hits. Some persist in exploring, learning, and pushing themselves and the boundaries, going further and further with their learning, their exploring, and their willingness to create new sounds. A precious few break through to create new sounds that take the familiar into new terrain, and Porcupine Tree is one of those few bands to do this. This song is a great example of what can be accomplished by advanced musicians who are willing to do the hard work it takes to push through the boundaries of what was to create something new.

One of the main things I love about odd time signatures is that one beat that repeats can sound like it changes just because the upbeat/downbeat perspective flips back and forth.

They have such an amazing sound. The production value is excellent. Crisp yet gritty at the same time

From my childhood to now this never weared off. Always pure magic and intensity, goosebumps. No matter how numb and empty i feel, this reminds me of what it was like being alive.
  • Hear the sound of music Drifting in the aisles Elevator Prozac Stretching on for miles The music of the future Will not entertain It's only meant to repress And neutralise your brain Soul gets squeezed out Edges get blunt Demographic Gives what you want One of the wonders of the world is going down It's going down I know It's one of the blunders of the world that no-one cares No-one cares enough Now the sound of music Comes in silver pills Engineered to suit you Building cheaper thrills The music of rebellion Makes you wanna rage But it's made by millionaires Who are nearly twice your age Soul gets squeezed out Edges get blunt Demographic Gives what you want One of the wonders of the world is going down It's going down I know It's one of the blunders of the world that no-one cares No-one cares enough [x4]

Anesthetize is one of the best songs ever made by anyone, anywhere, at any time. I have to restrain myself from listening to it so much for fear I'll burn out on it. It's just incredible. Same can be said for this song, but hand on the heart, this can probably be said for many songs on In Absentia, Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet.

its crazy how this music can make you feel so much.. truly makes me feel my soul coming to life. in contrast makes you think how dull and gray life can be.
