“Hot dog is a sandwich and a slide is an effect.” Words that will live in musical history forever.
  • Is it me, or is Paul more popular than he was even back in the 80s??? I love Uncle Paul, he's the best. He's always just so positive, and happy and excited about guitar and sharing his experiences and knowledge. Thanks for everything Paul!
  • @gsmmax1
Paul Gilbert's personality is possibly bigger than his guitar playing. What a gift to humanity.
  • @magtownrep
Using a volume boost pedal for just one note is the most brilliant/hilarious things I've ever heard of. Excellent interview.
  • @dongpedroyi
Paul managed to survive the demise of the '80s shredder and remain active - he is now like a scientist who travels through time and encompasses all guitar eras with timeless mastery.
  • @DanielDeVidi
Josh and Paul are the perfect match, they should have their own show.
  • @RoboRocker69
I like Paul's no frills approach to his pedal board. No fancy flight case super expensive computer designed multi-level platform. Just a good ol' hunk off 3/4" plywood spray painted flat black and he's ready to tour the world! He's so grounded and humble. You gotta love it!

How can you not admire Paul Gilbert? He is such a fantastic player and it helps he's also a genuinely nice person.

Paul is a jukebox, an encyclopedia, an engineer, teacher, comedian, and on and on. What a fun person in a world full of...not fun people?
  • Don't you just love that while every other gear video on YouTube features Hi-Tech pedalboards, Paul Gilbert's like... "Oh, and I made sure to sand the corners to my irregularly shaped piece of wood that I cut, myself." Now that's awesome.
  • @GraylightSynes
Paul Gilbert is my favorite electric guitarist, and I love hearing him speak about music. The professional guitarist world is full of people who present themselves as mysterious, edgy, dark, enigmatic... it's full of unnecessary ego. And Gilbert just bucks all that. He is overtly bright, chipper, quirky, and wholesome. That is just so welcome and refreshing. He's a gift to the instrument's community, and I hope he continues to find success.
  • I love how proud this very famous, highly skilled musician is of the Year 9-level paper 'n tape album cover mod he did to his univibe.
  • Individually, two of the most entertaining characters talking about guitars, but together, hilarious. You guys need to get together and a regular Statler and Waldorf Pedal Show.
  • @Vahnchelsea
Paul is very humble and nice to talk to. He really likes to share his knowledge and idea without offending anyone.
  • Man, it’s an absolute delight to listen to Paul Gilbert. I don’t mean only his music, but his words, approach to guitar, life and people. He’s so humble, nice and gentle.
  • @Raonybarreto
They deserve a weekly show. Pretty amazing videos together.

When he said "and.. I'm happy already" at 12:23, then he yelled at 12:42 hahaha this guy is just full of joy which is why I love watching his guitar videos so much. No dull moment
