I knew most of this but not all, so thank you very much. Something worth mentioning: if you miss some dialogue you can hold down Siri and ask “What did he (or she) say,”, and Apple TV will rewind and replay with captions. Then the captions disappear. Or you can ask Siri to replay the previous amount of time desired. In fact, you can ask Siri just about anything, such as What’s the Dodger score (I personally don’t care, haha). Thanks again. Oh, and there is a new remote! And a tag for when it’s lost! But the remote we use is more than adequate.

When using the iPhone as a remote and a person is searching for a movie title, just use voice dictation on the iPhone. This will save typing all together in most cases.
  • Apple TV exclusive user since 2012 here. I LOVE the remote in every way BUT I'm a modern guy - I'm a Mac & iPhone user - never watched convention TV channels. It makes me super angry when traditionalists diss the Apple TV remote and yet grab an old DVD remote that has 50+ tiny tiny buttons on it. I think that we are in an era where people just love to moan. To me the Apple TV is perfect - it creates the ultimate zen experience and having everything working from one beautifully designed box with the most perfect UI is incredible whether it's using apps, AirPlay or Apple HomeSharing from my Mac. I love that I can go to Paris on a weekend to stay with my friend's, since my Apple ID into their Apple TV and WOWZER, ALL of my iTunes films appear for us to watch and vice versa!!! I feel that Apple have done an incredible job on this little beauty. 9 years in and I give it 100 out of 100 for performance, reliability, user experience, longevity. In 9 years of watching film from iTunes these Apple TV's have not crashed even ONCE during a film. Isn't that incredible!!!!!!!! Top quality components for sure. Coming from a broadcasting background, these are industry standard!
  • Thank you very much for the video you taught me some new things and I think you missed out to mention that you can forward the video by 10 secs if click the extreme right of the track pad or back if you click extreme left.

How do I see all movies on the prime app? I use to be able to select see all, but on my new one it just makes me scan through the few movies on the screen horizontally instead of letting me bring up the big grid of movies. Thanks
  • Thank you for this video. I came over from the Windows platform about four years ago. Now I am 100 Apple. Mac. iPhone, and now I will be getting Apple TV for my new Samsung Smart TV, with all the functionality of Apple. I will have no issues using the remote or even my phone. Been totally bumped out over using traditional remotes for searching. With my iPhone as the remote, it is a no-brainer. Plus, the ability to use Siri.
  • Thanks very much for this. I write tvOS apps and when it comes to user interface it's always a design challenge (nightmare, actually). It's good to know how humans actually use the remote. Apple should be ashamed.

I’ve had mine sitting in the box for 2 weeks! Sooo much detail I’m nervous to hook it up 😂😂😂😂😂😂🥴

Please review the new one when you get a chance, thanks.

HELP... I have an Apple HD TV with the NEW 2021 Remote. I can not find a way to completely have the remote turn off my Samsung Series 7 TV. When I hit the power button it put the Apple TV box in sleep mode and then it acts like it is powering off the TV, but within 10 seconds the TV comes back on. Then I have to use the TV remote to turn it off. I am trying to just use the Apple Remote. Do you have any ideals.

It's keeps asking for my Apple ID password. When I enter my CORRECT Apple ID password, it gives me the message "Verification Failed, an unknown error occurred", and gives me two options "Try Again" or "Cancel". No matter which option I select, it keeps asking me repeatedly for my Apple ID password.

Thanks, bought Apple TV for my Mum for her birthday and will make sure she watches this because I’m a shitty teacher 😊

Thankis for mentioning directional messaging. I never knew it existed or what it was. I'm terrible at swiping, and it really helps me navigate.
  • I'm so happy I found this video because it's fantastic. You explain things so clearly. There is so much to unpack here, I had to watch it twice. Thank you for making it!

My dad is 78 and resists learning new tech (pessimistic and not-in-a-funny-way stubborn)...I pray this video will make my life easier. 😅

Great video! So thorough and simple! I’ve had my Apple TV for years, but I was looking for video to explain to other people how great it is! This will be beneficial for them also
