Fun Fact: Verdandi referred to Kratos as “Cruel Striker” during his fight with the first guard at the Well of Urd. In Norse mythos, Loki’s father’s name is Fárbauti. Which literally translates to “Cruel Striker.” In Old Norse language, “Cruel Striker,” Fárbauti, is a kenning used to refer to lightning. Where “Laufey,” Loki’s mother, means “Leaf Island” and is a kenning for a pile of dry leaves. So when lightning ‘strikes’ a pile of dry leaves, you get (drumroll,) a WILD FIRE. Which is a rather fitting way to describe the saga of Loki and their exploits through Norse mythos. Though, here in the game, “Cruel Striker” is more of an allusion to Kratos’s exploits in Greece, as he slew all the Gods of Olympus and burned it to the ground.
