I just went to this gym and talked with an employee about this video! He said that they are now the TOP RATED gym with many many reviews on Google, but there has been no increase in visitors lol. They also showed me the paper Magnus signed. It was taped to the wall in a plastic paper protector. It was such a pleasant visit and the people are all so friendly there!

When being the worst rated turns out to be the best thing for your business.
  • It became almost instantly obvious that the low rating was because the gym has hard boulder problems and isn't catering for the new climbers, its tailored for the strong climbers.
  • @omgurheadsgone
The gym is now rated 5 stars with over 1600 reviews because of this video! XD

This gym genuinely made me smile. Their excitement of him being the first to finish the one route. :,) it's more like a climbing club than a typical "gym"
  • When Magnus said "I feel like when climbers watch you it's encouraging, because they don't want you to fail they want you to succeed" I just remembered climbing years ago with supportive wonderful friends and strangers. It's true. Climbing is collaborative and supportive, it's why it's such a great sport.

This really feels like the love-child of a long-time climber. Feels very cozy and welcoming :) Bad rates are probably from beginners who went there, didn't understand the system and couldn't climb anything so they thought it's bad

Before Magnus: 2.8 stars After Magnus: 4.9 stars
  • It looks like those Japanese movie plots, where the smaller temple turns out to have an amazing master that will teach you the real secrets haha
  • @jamiehay1027
Fun fact: This gym, Quail Climbing Gym, is now 5 star rated with 1378 reviews!😂
  • The laser pointing holds is actually a great idea. This feels more like a climbing club than a full gym. It's the kind of place i love to find traveling. I live to find native hangouts over the touristy spots. Great video
  • @pingolexx
This gym has now over 600 reviews and a 4,9, it might become the best reviewed in Tokyo
  • @Ry8
When Magnus is doing the first difficult one, the guys in the background are saying "really strong" in Japanese.

So... I'm moving to Tokyo to be with my SO in January. Just looked up this climbing gym out of curiosity. 20 min walk from her apartment. I think I'll be making a visit soon! Edit: Just came back from my visit! Yeah, it's super small, but the staff who helped me seemed super friendly, and the routes were fun! I'm a relatively beginner climber so I couldn't get beyond blue grade, but it was worth it.

this is like the HARDCORE climber's home, like literally you can feel ppl come here train their ass off with sweat and blood, working with some rediculously hard problems, that's also why I love and so appreciate the feeling of spray wall so much, it's humble but rock solid for you to improve, and ppl in these kind of climbing gyms are much much more friendly and genuine than the big commercial gyms

"Normal Girl that turned out to be Girlfriend tries Worst Rated Climbing Gym in Tokyo that turned out to be the Best One"
  • This is exactly why people need to judge for themselves instead of going off of others' opinions. you never know! Seems like a great atmosphere at that small cozy gym.
  • I can definitly understand why its rated so bad. I don't climb but watch your videos a lot. To have so many of these routes clamped together is just very hard to understand the lines. But I can also relate to the climbing geeks running this gym who are so sofisticated with their passion and their limited space. Im glad you guys enjoyed this gym!

I've watched this a few times now. Such a great feel to the whole video; the enjoyment the locals are getting from seeing someone take on all these challenging boulders; the dedication to improving their climbing; the lack of bass-heavy music in the background; and Magnus' enjoyment of the whole experience. Super wholesome Magnus!
