Three tourists found dead in Mexico were shot in the head and their bodies dumped in a well, authorities have confirmed.

Officials believe the men were attacked trying to stop the theft of their pickup truck.

Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, 30 and 33, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, disappeared on 27 April while on a surfing trip in Ensenada.

In 2022 - the last year for which State Department data is fully available - 192 Americans died in Mexico, of which 46 were ruled as homicides.

One of the Australian brothers was a doctor in a hospital in Perth. He spent his life helping others and was killed for nothing. Staff at the hospital are now collecting money to give to their parents. Such a tragedy. I doubt many Australians will travel to Mexico now.

Sad. If it was a carjacking, why was the car burnt? Sounds like something else happened 😮

Truck was burnt and blood was found on their tents. No way on Earth this was a carjacking.

Very sad, and very upsetting. Years ago a friend of mine who is tri-Lingual in English, Spanish, and Portuguese told me while on a business trip in Mexico City he had to watch out for bandits, and kidnappers. He was fortunate enough to hire a trusted taxi driver who acted as his personal chauffeur during his stay, and it worked very well. I'll never go to Mexico.

Why would you go to fkn mexico with all the horror stories!

The problem with visiting these places is, because the level of violence is nowhere to be found in your country, one cannot comprehend the danger & ruthless mentality that surrounds you when visiting these places, until it's all too late. Then also bear in mind the visitors mentality/thinking of, "these BAD things we always hear about happen to.other people, never me"......When you put it all together, again, one can't comprehend how vulnerable you are in a place like that. Sincerely, it's a real tragedy - R.I.P to the victims.
