This is superb guys. After first minutes of noodling they play (at 2:13) Black Cat Outro Jam/ Namida Tears and then they go into improvisation playing freely over a blues chord progression. Highlights are:
1) Jasons awesome technique
2)Martys awesome technique
3) Jasons "look" and "smile" every time Marty bends a beautiful note! Sign of recognition of the majesty in Maryts feel of melodies...
4) Intro from the song "Savage" unplugged at the beginning plus other little parts of songs.

My personal favourites are the parts when Jason rips then goes "ah..." when Marty enters the story. Like he knows he is a better guitarist than Marty but still cannot believe how the "teacher" finds these notes!!!

1:35 Marty Plays that Stravinsky/ Debussy style lick, they start harmonizing. Jason plays a variation and then they harmonize that too. What a duo
  • Jason's just so fluid across the strings it's unreal. Marty has this incredible ability to find the unexpected outside of the box notes that fit so flawlessly.

Marty always puts a cool bend in there somewhere

if only Jason could play again. Would be cool to see he and Marty play together again. Back when I love listening to guitar instrumental cassette at night before I sleep. Those were the days.

Does Jason ever miss a note? Cleanest playing I've ever heard. Wow

Marty Friedman is a true poet of the electric guitar. Jason was not far behind, but Marty is such a master of phrasing.

Its sooo tragic... it still makes me cry sometime ,Though the real tragedy would have been never ever to heard Jason at all. True brillance that burned blindingly, but to burn out quick. I'm thankful for every single second of Cacophony & Becker's audio & video.
  • I didn't realize Marty had this much soul (and classical) in him! Newfound respect for Marty...and incredibly sad that Jason never reached his full potential...he would have/has given Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen a run for their money. God bless these guitar giants!
  • 6:25 pure telepathy.. no words 🙏🏼 Marty: let's play namida? Jason: umm chords? Marty: here ya go. Jason: ahhhh

I am so impressed when I see this again and again on how Jason always looks out for those amazing Marty notes and nods "yeah" and smiles.....It took me a thousand years in guitar playing to get to a point where from admiring technique I could actually hear "those" notes. For me this separates the boys (simple shredders) from men (guitar Gods). In the massive intensity of music while shredding some play exercises and some play beautiful music. And that is what phrasing is all about......

The reason I love Marty is that he always has so much 'feel and melody' in his playing besides speeds and other stuffs..2 Legends🔥
