LYRICS:

Are we crazy
Living our lives through a lens
Trapped in our white picket fence
Like ornaments

So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble
So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble

Aren’t you lonely
Up there in utopia
Where nothing will ever be enough
Happily numb

So comfortable, we’re living
in a bubble, bubble
So comfortable, we cannot
see the trouble, trouble

So put your rose-colored glasses on
And party on

Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm

Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm

Are we tone deaf
Keep sweeping it under the mat
Thought we could do better than that
I hope we can

So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble
So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble

So put your rose-colored glasses on
And party on

Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm

Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm

It is my desire
Break down the walls to connect, inspire
Up in your high place, liars
Time is ticking for the empire
The truth they feed is feeble
As so many times before
They greed over the people
They stumbling and fumbling
And we about to riot
They woke up, they woke up
the lions

Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm

  • HIDDEN MESSAGES IN THIS VIDEO CLIP: 0:03 - A theme park called "Oblivia". 0:22 - Comments on everyone's obsession with social media. 0:30 - Cotton candy in the form of atomic bombs. 0:42 - Katy pricks her finger, showing that even if everything looks perfect, it is not what it seems. 0:48 - Roller coaster separated by sex, reinforcing a heteronormative lifestyle. 1:07 - An amusement park shows houses falling, referring to the fall in the housing market. 1:20 - Everyone's obsession with social media gratification. 1:30 - The sign says 1984, a possible link to the 1984 novel, which describes a dystopian society where people are constantly monitored. 1:37 - Katy's male counterpart gets a much higher validation score for doing the same thing as her, a woman. 1:46 - The 'There's no place like home' ride throws people back on the fence - an obvious allusion to Trump's immigration ban / wall. 1:50 - The "Bombs Away" tour shows a flood of bombs falling. 2:15 - 'Hell H20' seems to comment on the world's dependence on oil and its impact not only on the environment, but also on our own bodies. 2:39 - A hamster wheel that a white man seems to navigate successfully is incredibly difficult for a black man and an Asian woman who fail. 2:40- Society giving roles to women and men (the typical housewife and the husband reading the news). 2:50 - Katy is the only person able to see the "Nuclear Family" video being played to see the darkest truth behind it. 3:46 - Katy successfully wins the hamster wheel; hope for the future? some are still missing, but you guys already understood! Now are you starting to understand the messages that Witness has? There are many more there, just open your eyes and ears to understand. This album is WONDERFUL. The true is that Katy brought a political position in which she had not brought in her previous albums which ended up causing strangeness in people. In addition, there is the fact that she detonated Trump at the time of the American election and that made the Republican part of the U.S. hate her. I feel sorry for her, because she didn't deserve the hate she took in any way. This album is ahead of its time! and since you are here, give the recognition that the queen deserves: listen to daisies»»»https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NutHKRKBgR0 listen to harleys in hawaii»»»https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQEgklEwhSo listen to smalk talk»»»https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqunQaPQumk

Basically she's saying that, were all so comfortable that we do not even realize the scary realities of this world and it just goes on and on, it's pretty much just like saying the tune of the music is so fun we aren't aware of the deep lyrics this song contains.
  • This song contains so much symbolism, seeing all the people in the comments being oblivious and myopic to it’s words literally proves Katy’s point.

I can’t believe this was 3 years ago, Time goes by fast.
  • @-BeanBoolin
This song is the definition of "When you're happy you enjoy the music, when you're sad, you understand the lyrics"
  • I don’t think people are grasping what she is saying here, she was telling us and we ignored it
  • “So comfortable we’re living in a bubble, bubble. So comfortable we cannot see the trouble, trouble” “Time is ticking for the empire” “We’re all chained to the rhythm” “Stumbling around like a wasted zombie” “You think we’re free?” She was warning us the whole time.

Its April 2024, let's see how many legends are listening to this incredible song:body-blue-raised-arms::trophy-yellow-smiling:
  • I cannot believe it took you guys 3 YEARS to figure out the message of this song. Truly was ahead of her time. She was awake before us, and now she can’t even crack the top 10 and she’s actually scared now to promote her music and speak up on political issues because of how twisted her words got and how traumatized she was from the hate over a haircut and songs with REAL MEANING. KATY deserves better. My ride or die. edit: oh wow this blew up was not expecting that
  • @judahbupe7607
It's the creativity of making a sad song with the happiest beat and deepest meaning. Skip Marley delivered the illusion we have been kept in.❤
  • @kannieee
Everybody thought this song was a flop at first but personally I think it's great because it addresses a lot of social issues that we're not so aware of today. It gradually becomes catchier as you listen to it on repeat to
  • @Sthuthukile
This is the saddest song with the happiest beat Edit: okay everyone got a sadder song, but this still wins cause of the irony..she's singing about us willfully ignoring reality and dancing to the music. And her song makes us do the exact same thing.
  • @lyrixmaples
I didn't understand back then bc I was 14 but now as a 21 year old, I 100% get it and sadly this is still the world we live in. Most of us are waking up now tho
  • @Madz-fx9qm
Crazy how Bob Marleys grandson is featured on such a hit song just shows you how talented the Marley family is.
  • @iamblank6419
So, this is what happened to the Capitol after President Snow died in The Hunger Games.
  • @brandMason
This is the scariest song I've ever heard, it gives me goosebumps and make me uneasy. So good yet so scary - the meaning behind this catchy rhythm.
