Media: just entered the public domain Horror filmmakers: it’s free real estate
  • That one British investor dude really said, "this public domain horror franchise is the next big thing. It's gonna make me a billion dollars!"
  • Imagine if steamboat Willie is this universe's Thanos and is the main bad guy of this film.
  • The way things are going I think people will support this if only to say "Screw Disney!"
  • @SoldierBot72
I like how the instant something comes out of the public domain, the first thing people decide to make is a horror movie. I’m not angry or annoyed about it, but I think it’s funny they always decide to immediately do a horror movie.
  • Ah hell nah we got the announcement of a Public Domain MCU before GTA 6 released 💀
  • @callibor3119
It’s public domain for a reason. To be tested on any genre by any person. They can be their own characters in their own worlds like in the original stories, or they could be a culmination of different stories in one world in a growing universe. This is freedom from copyright. We shouldn’t complain when this is wonderful progress from a corporation that has held these characters hostage and calling them “Disney” characters.
  • Everyone wants to be the MCU without actually understanding the MCU. Including the MCU.

I've wanted to write a fantasy story using public domain fairy tales but giving it a more mature tone, and sometimes I question if its a good idea. Then I see this and I remember that even if my idea doesn't work out, at least I didn't go the low effort horror movie route.

I kinda admire how, no matter how much hate this Rhys gets, he still perseveres with his ‘visions’
  • This is the embodiment of a nightmare. Cuz it’s unexplainable, out of nowhere, and just plain TERRIFYING-
  • @kylekeith5259
This is almost like the short skid on mad on Cartoon Network predicting Bambi as a horror icon
  • If i had a nickel for every time a public domain character had its own horror movie, I'd have 12 nickels, which isn't alot, but it's weird it happened 12 times.

Somehow this makes Pooh's Adventures look tame in comparison
