  • Linda, I am concerned that you may have ran across an Asian jumping worm when you were planting a hydrangea. Normal worms do not jump that way. Maybe keep an eye out for more. They are invasive, and what I have read is that you should capture it, freeze it and throw it out.
  • My clay soil in the Niagara Ontario area is horrible and has zero drainage. I plant high, amend with triple mix and mulch well. I’m hopeful my newly planted hydrangeas survive. So far so good. Great show Linda

I stopped the video at 8 minutes and went outside and got busy ,thanks to your reminding me, that it has rained and my c!ay soil in Georgia is easily dug. Thanks Linda.

I live right outside of D C, and older gardening ladies taught me 30 years ago (I’m an older gardening lady now!) to add 1/2 pine bark chips, 1/2 compost to my horrible red clay soil. I end up with about equal parts of all chips, compost and clay. It really helps. I’ve been told no peat or sand, because it more or less can make pottery! Linda, at least your clay is a pretty dark color!!!
  • V-neck. Always V-neck. Its rare that I hit clay soil on my property, but I have. Been organically farmed for hundreds of years. Its beautiful soil. But don't let clay soil stop you from gardening. Good vlog!
  • Thank you so much for your depth of gardening knowledge and have admittedly made a few planting mistakes so i for one am learning so much especially regarding the subject of growing in Clay soil conditions which i sm dealing with here in the Uk . .
  • Linda, my hydrangeas do quite well in zone 8a NC . My soil is definitely clay. I amend the beds with compost and do plant high. Also mulch each year. For the most part I have no trouble as long as the plants can withstand our heat and humidity. Thanks for addressing this issue.

Hi Linda , I have clay soil here West Cork , Ireland. That was great advice for planting. Never knew about roughing up the sides of the hole. Thank you.

I have the same pants from Amazon, which you had recommended a couple of months ago!! I have followed you on YouTube for several years now. I look always look forward to see what you're up to next. Happy Mother's day!! 😊❤💐
  • THANK YOU!! WONDERFUL information, great tips that I will absolutely do, great advice! Our front beds and back garden are doing so well, and it is all due to your excellent, thorough advice and honesty about our climate and challenges. One day I saw our 20-something DIL videoing our back garden, and it was a huge compliment - due to you!! This clay soil video is absolutely SPOT-ON!

The clay soil in Illinois and Connecticut were such a struggle for me after gardening in the San Francisco Bay Area, where anything grows! I remember my neighbor ‘s fantastic blue- pink climbing hydrangea which spilled into my yard, and the bountiful Lantana that grew year round! Now I’m preparing to move to Coastal Connecticut which I k ow nothing about! We will be building new construction and creating a garden from scratch! Big changes and challenges. I’ve been taking notes from you, Linda!

I love the Garden life t shirt...I wish it came in 3/4 length sleeve or a long sleeve.

Wow, what an informative video. I’ve been gardening for years and never heard of some of the techniques you used. I live in Atlanta so we have that good old red Georgia Clay! I laughed when you said the word britches because I thought that was just a southern thing😜
  • I love your Aliums! I’ve never planted them but on my list this year! 😊

Linda your garden and home look absolutely charming! What a transformation. In my younger years I was a V neck kinda gal. however after my seventh decade arrived it was back to crew neck, elbow or 3/4 length sleeves. . . .eventually no matter how thin, healthy and well preserved you are, things go south!!
