You gotta love how it and Rayquaza have beef solely because Deoxys's meteor showed up in the Pokemon world's atmosphere uninvited

I like how even though it is an Alien, it's an alien of the MAIN universe so it still looks completely different to the Ultra Beasts, Aliens from OTHER universes

I love how half of its Pokédex entries are just “listen we don’t know wtf this thing is but it’s not here to f around”
  • I remember working at a science based summer camp for kids in 2019 where we were talking to the kids about DNA and how it stands for Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid and I could see all their eyes were glazing over. Then I asked if anyone knew the Pokémon Deoxys and that woke a good number of them up before revealing to them that it was the basis for the name of the Pokémon and they all just lit up. That memory makes me feel happy.

Fun fact: competitively speaking Deo-A and Deo-N function almost identically, with Deo-A being preferred as the difference being made out of tissue paper vs wet tissue paper was less significant in the ubers tier than the difference between their offensive stats, which Deo-A outclassed Deo-N in every way. So yeah, the fact that Deo-N looks so similar to Deo-A also extends to how they function in game. Another interesting thing is that Deo-S and Deo-D actually have surprisingly well rounded stats. Deo-S was the fastest mon in the game for a long time (screw you regileki) but also had decent offenses and wasn't made out of tissue paper. Meanwhile Deo-D had solid defenses (works out to be slightly better than Mew's), surprisingly good speed, and enough high powered moves to not be total setup bait. I like Deo quite a lot.

Defense form Normal form Attack form Speed form DNA'S Kinda funny how that works out.

Deoxys was always a delight for how it felt so foreign to the rest of the cast. Yeah, ultra beasts would do that later too, but at the time, this was the Pokémon that felt like it stood on its own with not only being an alien, but how it could transform itself like it can. Definitely a really out there design Pokemon had.
  • I want to point out the absurdity of the scenario presented by Deoxys and the Delta Episode in ORAS. There is a meteor heading straight for Hoenn. So, instead of teleporting the meteor to another reality (a real option proposed by game’s characters), a 10 year old grabs a space suit, challenges the last of an ancient group of guardians, only to then challenge a mythical, weather altering dragon that then assumes a new, more powerful form using the power of wishes and the hopes of humanity, only to then have that 10 year old rise it like a horse into the meteor to destroy it (they’re both completely unharmed by this, by the way) and then and ONLY then does the alien virus that hijacked the meteor mutate and evolve into a psychic powered genetic Pokémon… Which you then fight in Space.

I also love how this thing is consistently portrayed throughout media, no matter where it shows up t is a cold ruthless being that just wants to throw hands. The UBs and other mons that may have negative connotations such as Darkrai almost always have a portrayal that makes them goofy or misunderstood etc, but Deoxys is always portrayed as the alien weirdo and I love it for that
  • The reason attack looks so similar is because... it IS similar. Base -> attack has the least stat change (30 defs into attacks, no spd change) since base deoxys is already a speedy attacker. It makes perfect thematic sense that attack form would be most similar to base. (The 3D models also harmed the visual distinction between the two, as attack form used to be more hunched back with the whip arms more pronounced)
  • I kinda wish the base form had one arm in its "human" form like in the gen 3 and 4 sprites, would help distinguish it from the attack form a little more

I really like Deoxys in the delta episode. In emerald, Rayquaza comes down from the sky to prevent the calamity Groudon and Kyogre being to the world, while the delta episode in contrast has Rayquaza prevent a calamity from beyond instead of within. It's a shame that first part wasn't in Oras.

Deoxys has been one of my favorites legendaries ever since i was a kid. He feels like the Cell of Pkmn and Mewtwo the Freeza. And their fight in the PKMN adventures manga is absolute peak. And also the Pokemon Generations episode when Mega Rayquaza and Deoxys fight too, he got some of the coolest shonen stuff pokemon has ever done.

I love how its canonically one of the weirdest Pokemon but also it has the inexplicable ability to turn its whip tentacles into human hands. like of all the humanoid Pokemon, Deoxys of all things sometimes goes toe to toe with the numerous apes we have with person likeness.
  • I like that attack forme unravels the double helix of its arms. It's about to transcript a can of whoop-ass all over you
  • Deoxys is also the reason we have one of the most iconic Pokemon Memes, when it was blasted by Rayquaza in that one movie!
  • I think that the movie greatly helped convince me in its design seeing how it would morph into its other forms and when it faints how it reverts back into a core just made it so much cooler to me.

Destiny Deoxys was my favorite Pokémon Movie growing up and it heavily influenced by deep love for both Rayquaza and Deoxys.
  • Something my friend pointed out while I was explaining all the Angels from Eva was that Israfel resembles Deoxys, and it got me wondering if Deoxys is based on the Angels in general.
